This dive shop is a scam. They tell you that you can have pool play at a minimal charge, but that’s only if you spend hundreds of dollars at their store. God forbid you bring any of your own gear. My wife called them on the phone, and they treated her like she was an idiot. They wanted to charge us $225, each, to take a full face mask class, not certified, just their pool class. It would cost more to actually get certified, which would involve an additional 2 open water dives with the full fask mask. Due to the current time of year, the open water dives were not an option. The only way to practice with our masks was to agree to pay their class fee. To be clear, PADI offers a full face mask class, but it is not actually a required certification, although it is recommended. We agree that the class is very important, but to make us pay $225 each, just for the pool session, and the inability to obtain the remainder of the certification without later paying $495 each for Advanced Open Water Certification (that is just the fee for the 5 open water dives, not including the book work nor any of the pool charge for that certification, and finishing the full face mask class would be an additional charge) is simply insane. We were told later that the $225 each charge was just for their class, and would not give us any official certification. it was simply to use their pool to practice. – via
