Had a great diving trip with Andy in Ko Racha. Great mix of professionalism (for safety) and being laid back (for fun). – via

Diving is all smiling faces and rainbows until one day everything goes south.
I booked a 3-dive trip to Ko Racha Noi/Yai. The manager of diving center, Sawanya, was very helpful. She answered all of my questions, and booking and paperwork took minimum amount of time. Next day I went diving with Andy.
Andy is a high-grade professional. My questions were answered, the briefings were clear and thorough, equipment was in good condition and underwater communication maintained constantly and clearly.
At 22m depth of 3rd dive I suddenly had a nitrogen narcosis (who would’ve thought that this is even possible on nitrox if you stay within the limits, but still). From the words of Andy, I was in unresponsive state with an erratic behavior. At 14m I was awakened by a sharp pain in my ear, grabbed by Andy from the side – I was alive. Then we ended the dive safely.
Instructor is not your girlfriend, you don’t need a charming personality. You need his experience and skills. Andy is highly skilled and experienced.
Ask yourself: will your buddy or instructor ever risk his life to save yours? Andy did.

First off, Andy the instructor is a clear communicator – easy to understand and if you pay attention – he is easy to follow.
I went here for a introduction dive (DSD), but stayed for a full Scuba Diver course because of Andy’s engagement, willingness to teach, his calmness and his genuine excitement on his clients’ behalf.

I have contacted AquaSub to arrange courses to obtain the open water certification. I book via text message, saying that I will come the next day in the afternoon. The staff confirms it. I arrange my trip accordingly. The day after, the staff told me they canceled my booking, offering another option 5 days after.
When I call, the staff starts by making excuses (because I came too late while it was 3:15PM) and on top of that, raise their voice when I tell them that they should have informed me.
AquaSub team, I understand that it’s the peak season for you guys. But put yourself in my position. If you confirm a booking, stick to your word. And at the very least, call before canceling. Not cool!
EDIT: since AquaSub wants to distort the facts, I am posting our conversation below. Please show me where you asked for a deposit, for my passport and where I did not follow your request. Please show me where that happened.
Also why didnt you call me if you wanted to know exactly at what time I would come in the afternoon.
Reading your other comments, it seems like that you have the habit of attacking personally your clients with judgmental sentences like: “you are the typical…”

The open water exsperins was somting unreal for me. It was both learing and fun both in the pool and in the open waters. I personaly overcame some fears witch made me feel so pround of myself. My instrukter was also really helpful and kind witch is a large reason i hade so much fun diving. Hope more people will take the chans and tho the same i did. – via

did my owd license at aqua-sub in rawai, phuket. very friendly staff and andy was an amazing diving instructor! once it got to the first ocean dive on day two the experience was insane and totally worth it. we saw black fin sharks and turtles, dove through a cave and had great food on the boat. stick through the pool day and you will get amazing experiences.

My wife and me are diving for many years and each year we do 3-4 diving trips during our vacation in Phuket Thailand. This year is a special year for us because our son who turned 10 years got his Padi open water certificate so we can dive now all together. I would highly recommend Aquasub, we have seen many companies and many instructors who treats people like cattle and the choice of Aquasub was based on health and safety standards and following the complete Padi course. Special thank you to Andy, our son dive instructor, our son passed the full course, as Andy mentioned our son is a good student but he would not pass without a great mentor. On internet Aquasub is a 5 star rated Padi diving center, I would say even a 6 star based on the quality of the instructor and high quality gear. – via
