Avoid at all costs. Awful dive centre run by awful human beings.
Having no previous diving experience, we booked a discover scuba diving course and a dive. First, they told us they couldn’t do the course later than 6am, then emailed the afternoon before to change it to a later time. I didn’t see the email, but they didn’t follow up at all so we turned up at 6 and no-one was there.
The course itself was a disaster. The pool was so dirty I couldn’t see my hands, let alone the instructor. The instructor was terrible and confused us more than anything.
Needless to say, we decided we weren’t comfortable going on the open water with them, so I asked for a refund. After calling 4 or 5 times and being told that noone except Cyndy could do the refund and she wasn’t around, I eventually managed to get in contact with her. She said she would refund the money. She then…didn’t, and has been ignoring my emails and phone calls ever since.
It’s pretty clear that these guys have no real intention of running a decent business. Please, please go with literally any other dive centre. – via

I have never experienced such rasist actions by the owner of this place before. When I was returning the key at reception I was asked very rudly by the owner to move my car as I was parked where he needed to get by, keep in mind the whole weekend cars parked at that area but since they were white people they never spoken to like that, even after I explained to him to please be patient I’m just dropping off the key, the owner swore at me and threatened to beat me up and insulted me in front of everyone. He’s behavior was appalling and disgusting and shouldn’t be allowed to operate.. If you any other skin colour besides white you will definitely be treated like gabbage! Shame on you – via

Very friendly dive center. They’ll try everything to fit your needs and are very helpful with everything. Also the accommodation they have is nice with a fantastic view and moderate prices. And Weasley is an excellent Divemaster and great in spotting things. Would totally recommend them for your diving at Aliwal Shoal. – via

We are very dissapointed. I have done a dive with them before and loved it, but the second time around was awful (this was about 2 years ago). We got there and they pressured my boyfriend into not getting into the cage so they didn’t have to bring the cage. I felt so helpless in the situation and didn’t know what to do. Apart from that, they rushed us with everything. We were told we would be able to spend a full hour with the sharks and we did not get close to that time. Ontop of that we asked more than once if we would get photos and they said we would, needless to say we left Aliwal Shoal Scuba with no photos. They had excuses like “There were too many people.” and “They forgot the GoPro.” Everyone on the boat was dissapointed and we could all see it. Won’t recommend them if this is what people get. Aliwal Shoal Scuba was a better dive center when Gail was still around. – via
