I was in Denver for the Eco Diver course Todd and Serene ran at the Denver Aquarium. This was a fantastic experience and learning event. First getting to see some of the behind the scenes at the aquarium was wonderful. The education was extraordinary about over 50 different types of marine life. Worth every cent of the tuition. – via

I needed a prescription mask for diving and snorkeling. I was expecting a 3-4 week wait for the lens to be sent out and returned. A-1 Scuba has a line of masks that are drop in lens compatible. Austin Murphy helped me. He looked at my recent prescription. He had one lens that was exact and one that was really close. I picked the color mask I wanted. Austin went in the back and changed the lenses. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. My vision with the mask is the same as with my glasses. The price was very reasonable. I even got a discount for having taken a refresher class with them. I am really looking forward to my next dive trip. Austin and A-1 Scuba rate 5 stars all the way. We just got certified for open water in Hawaii, but got our lessons here at A1. I actually took lessons almost 7 years ago at Denver Divers because i wanted to learn scuba, but the experience there left me with a bit of a salty taste (instructors were kind of douchey even with beginners) and i never went to get my open water cert as a result. When the opportunity came along this time, i decided to enroll at A1 with my partner (and relearn everything) so that we’d learn together. Right off the bat, Chris and Jeff were some of the nicest and most patient instructors I’ve ever met. They took the time to go over didactics and then spent even more time with students in the indoor pool. The pool wasn’t as big as the one in Denver Divers but the experience far surpassed my previous one. It was all very laid-back and encouraging. Even though my partner was super nervous as she wasn’t the strongest swimmer and had trouble clearing her mask, they took extra time to practice with her. Chris was a very patient teacher, while Jeff cracked jokes teasing us from time to time all in good fun. Jeff was very encouraging and gave both my partner and i pep talks on what to expect and how to improve. He also said to mention in this review that he was the rockstar and not Chris. :).
Give these guys a try, just be open-minded and don’t get discouraged. Scuba is actually pretty technical and easily overwhelming with skills in a 3 -half days course, but the team made it happen for us. Not to mention the shop upstairs had great gear for us to purchase. Thanks again to A1 for helping us check off our bucket list! – via

Austin was very knowledgeable and helpful when buying our first BCD and regulator. He even said it comes with a pool visit, so we make sure it’s the right fit. We never felt rushed or dumb by asking novice questions. We felt like we were buying from a friend’s dive shop. Highly recommended. – via

Willing to change this as I’ve had great experiences but wow the phone call today was not pleasant. I was trying to help them out by clarifying some misdirected and incorrect emails and I was dealt with extremely curtly as if it was my fault. Just had a kids birthday there today and was super impressed. The instructor was incredibly patient, managed a bunch of younger kids (9 year olds) and did so with grace and fun. My child was the kid struggling, and he made it fun for even her. You don’t see this kind of person often. Thanks. – via

Did my open water certification with A1. I did the weekend plus, which was the pool/classroom plus open water dives 1&2 at the aquarium, then did open water 3&4 with them at Chatfield.
Very professional and friendly staff. Felt extremely prepared for my first “real” dive after certifying with them. Would recommend them to anyone interested in getting their certifications.

My 10 year old son is getting open water certified. With severe dyslexia and dysgraphia, we knew there would need to be some accommodations for him to be successful, but also confident that he would be able to do it. A-1 made the necessary accommodations so that reading/writing difficulties weren’t a barrier to this incredible sport. Additionally, Serene and Todd, his instructors, were two of the best educators I’ve ever encountered. Separately, they are absolutely incredible. Together, they are exceptional. Their knowledge, skill, and demeanor with a new diver (a nervous kiddo to boot) was phenomenal. As an educator myself, watching them teach was inspiring. Their patience, celebration of success, and methodology of circling back to a skill until mastered was fantastic. Thank you so much for this experience! – via

I choose to use this for shark diving at the aquarium and money well spent!!! My sister, friend, and myself had an absolute blast in and out of the cage. The staff was very friendly, enthusiastic, and comforting when I did have an issue (my very first experience anything scuba or snorkeling related).
