Freedive Nusa is the one freediving school on Nusa Penida island and SSI Freediving Instructor Training Center with robust and devoted staff of execs. School is situated simply 20 meters from the seashore. School provides freediving programs and freediving coaching from inexperienced persons as much as instructor levels, breath-hold workshops for surfers, every day yoga courses, gear rental and SUP boarding rental. School organizes freedive and snorkeling trips to superior Manta Rays, land trips across the island and common freediving trips round Indonesia.

We had the best time with Freedive Nusa. From the first moment of contact to the final goodbye lunch with our instructor Hamza after the fundive trip. Thank you, Hamza for making my first freediving experience so easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend the day class what you can easily extend to the wave 1 class. If you want to learn how to freedive and/or snorkel/freedive with mantas, do yourself a favor and choose Freedive Nusa. Since I started planning my trip they were so helpful and communicated really well, but when I got to Nusa Penida they surprised me even more. There were not enough people to do the ‘Try Freediving’ course I booked, but they made a lot of effort to have me join another group. The teacher Gaston came early to explain everything so I would feel fine during the excercises and freediving during that day! I learned so much and did better than I ever expected.

The next day I did the Manta Trip and that was incredible! With all the knowledge I learned the day before I went super comfortable, but also for people who just did that experience the material and explanation was professional, clear and all about safety and respecting wild life.

We were blessed by seeing many mantas and later some turtles and beautiful corals and fish at the home reef.

Thank you Freedive Nusa for your flexibility and effort to make it work because for me it was a dream come true. Hope to be back for the full course! – via

Weather condition can be really rough, it made us sick both on the boat and in the ocean. But definitely worth it cause we managed to see couple mantas :). Our guide was nice and offered some hot ginger tea. You can also rent a go pro for 350k and I definitely recommend that (if you don’t own one). – via

Spent all of February with Kirill freediving in Raja Ampat. It was an absolutely amazing trip and I highly recommend booking with Freedive Nusa. Kirill and Hamza are very caring guides and we were taken good care of at all times.

If you want to visit Raja Ampat you should chose Freedive Nusa – you will not be disappointed. Everything you need is provided for and their service and equipment is of high standard.

Freediving in Raja Ampat is an amazing and relaxing way to discover the reefs around the islands. No matter what level – you can also be new to it. Be prepared for the most beautiful reefs and marine life you’ll ever see.

Will try to do my next freedive course with Freedive Nusa and am already excited.

I did my masters and Wave 3 here. The program was disorganised and did not deliver what it promised. For the cost and the length of time I expected to have a set number of sessions with a qualified instructor in the water, which was not the case. There were some sporadic coaching sessions after which the only qualified instructor for wave 3 left for a trip for 2 weeks (mid program). When I raised my concerns I was met with a defensive attitude and made to feel bad that I wasn’t happy with the program. We were then left to ‘train each other’, which is something we can do on our own time and for virtually no money and was completely pointless as part of this experience.
I think this place uses long programs for money making purposes only with no regard towards actual education and no interest in student experience or constructive feedback.
I did a half master later at a different school and in half the time had double the amount of coaching sessions, managed to troubleshoot a lot of issues (mouthfill issues, diving rhythm and speed, technique) through proper coaching and it was depressing to discover how little I had learned at Freedive Nusa.
I would not return to this school nor recommend it to anyone in the future, a sentiment shared with all other participants I have met that attended this type of program (Masters Program, Zero to Hero) at this particular school.
I cannot comment on short courses as I did not attend one. – via

I have done Wave 1 and the Komodo Trip and both were great experieces! The course is very well structured and the instructors make you feel save and self-confident. After the course you are very comfortable under water and want to go on 🙂
The komodo trip was an amazing experience. It is very well organized and you visit special places. Even when you are not expericed in freediving you can take part and enjoy the incredible underwater world. The ship is clean and spacious, the food great and the crew helpful and welcoming.
Would definitely go again! Next I will take part in the manta trip on nusa penida… – via

I have done both, Raja Ampat and Komodo safari with Freedive Nusa and they are easily in my top 3 freediving experiences ever…and I have dove in many place around the world.

The trip is full of breath taking places, all accessible for beginner level freedivers. Its a perfect mixture of water and land (hikes) activities. Kirill has wide knowledge of local fauna and flora, culture, history and is also well connected with the communities which allows for a very unique, exciting and educational experience.

Every day has yoga/stretching, diving and/or hikes, local food and (as expected from freediving trip) plenty of rest and chill time allowing to interact with other like-minded group members.

I came back home with hundreds of photos, amazing memories and new friendships! – via
