We went in the afternoon to do a baptism, which in theory we hired to do in Tabarca. We arrived and… SURPRISE.
I’ll tell you about it as if it were a book, a movie or I don’t know, because it seems like a joke.
Chapter 1: “The welcome”
He tells us that we are going to a cove 35 minutes away and that we have to go by van… By van to Tabarca? The instructor never gave us an explanation as to why we were not going to Tabarca, but we heard him talking on the phone saying that his boss was sick. But what less than notifying and informing your clients, right? Well no, he didn’t tell us anything.
We try on the material, we put it in a car to take it to the van, and we take out the cylinders, etc. He did not check at any time that they were okay, nor do I carry any as a reserve just in case, but hey, we are heading to the cove that took us…
Chapter 2: Reckless driving
We left the port area, and just turned a roundabout, seeing from a distance a person who was going to cross, he almost ran over him, but that’s not all, throughout the way, he was entertaining himself (smoking, looking at the landscape, etc.) neglecting driving, swerving, and very badly. If the same thing happens to you, I recommend that you go in your car, even if you have to do more km.
Chapter 3: Explanation in the cove.
We arrived at the site, we prepared the material, and there was something when placing the oxygen cylinder that failed, and he had to go to the van to look for something, after this he explained to us the signs to know if we are okay or not, and to indicate the oxygen we have left. During the explanation, I was making a series of comments about us, and his previous clients, which were really unnecessary. What is important about whether a person is thick or not, and that we have used the same material? None, just things that shouldn’t even be mentioned. HORRIFYING CONDITION OF THE MATERIAL.
After this only explanation, and this uncomfortable moment, we get into the water, and he tells us to do some exercises, since it is a baptism, we had never done it before. Well, since the water had a lot of algae, she gave up and said to go in directly… But STOP!
HELLO? WE HAVE NEVER DIVED BEFORE, I don’t know how to get back afloat, I still don’t know how to breathe very well and I had a lot of doubts, and I felt insecure. But despite this, we follow him.
Chapter 4: Inside the sea
We were following him, until we reached a point where he told us to turn around, and the normal thing is for him to pass in front, well no… My companion went in front, and he was turning all the time to See if I told him where to go, and he didn’t say anything, so we continued.
There was a moment when I lost a lot of oxygen, I don’t know why, and no one noticed. I didn’t know how to tell him either, but I showed him the meter, which had dropped quite a bit. But we continued, with my partner in front. Until there came a moment when he pulled my fin and told me to stop, but my partner continued because he didn’t realize, and the guide took a while to catch up with him, and all this, me waiting there and not knowing how to communicate well. since he had explained 4 signs to us.
At the moment I stopped my companion, they turned towards me, to go back to the shore, the disoriented guide went up to find out where he was… And we missed a good part of the bottom, since we were high. And me entering reserve.
Chapter 5: While we were taking the cylinders to the van, he lit a cigarette there on the beach. We went down to get the rest of the material, and seeing that it was taking a while to go down, my partner decided to upload the instructor’s material. This man was more concerned with his cigarette and his things than with us. And coinciding with many comments that I have read, the return was in a hurry to finish, etc. And finally…
It has been a HORRIBLE experience. I have felt very insecure, deceived, and bad.
I liked the baptism, and seeing some little fish and such, I loved it, and I will repeat, but without a doubt with another company that is more professional. Because everything that happened is incredible. I will not repeat with them ever again. – via

Hello, first of all, congratulate the instructor Julio, for his friendly and very professional treatment, during our dive, which we plan to repeat, it is not so much what you see… but rather enjoying being there… and getting off safely, They are taking care of you…and they know what they do…I already dived with him on another occasion, last year and when I knew he was here, I didn’t hesitate and brought me along, my friends. Thank you…a giant of the land and the sea.?? (and that last review by Marta Muela,…I doubt it refers…to July, I suppose it is…the other instructor, his professionalism…and his care…is extreme)…?? – via

Today was our first experience with diving and it was normal.
First of all, I booked the diving baptism in TABARCA and we found that the baptism is done in a cove (nothing spectacular) half an hour by car from Santa Pola… (the grace of paying €119 was to go do it to Tabarca, otherwise there are cheaper places).
Days before they told us that the activity would last from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the reality is that it was from 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., taking into account the peak hour of travel from the center to the creek. The fact is that between what they explain to you and such, you are in the water for 1 hour at most.
The journey in the van, dirty, without air conditioning and with an incredible smell of tobacco.
The instructor forgot his towel and asked us for ours since he puts on the wetsuit “barely” and had to change with our towel…
At first I had problems getting the equipment and I was quite overwhelmed (until the point that I considered leaving the activity) because due to the weight of the equipment I could not stand up in the area of the beach where I was covered by the waist and I was on my knees, so the water literally reached my neck and without having barely any stability and having no idea how to breathe with the equipment… well the thing is that if it hadn’t been for my boyfriend, I would have drowned, because the instructor didn’t move…
In conclusion, would I repeat ? Well, I don’t know, probably making sure they take me to an island or somewhere that I know is worth the money I pay. As an experience, well, a 5 but this is “to taste the colors” – via

Excellent professional Julio. I taught the Padi Open Water Diver to my 13-year-old son and he was delighted. Systematic, procedural and methodical. He takes his work very seriously and that is always appreciated. Thanks also to Javi, the boat skipper for his friendliness and professionalism. Thanks to Ángel for being flexible with days and times. Just one detail, do some other vests have to be retired? – via

The details usually make the difference. If in the morning Ángel (the owner) receives us with an “aura” of excessive morning bullshit and with a threadbare T-shirt decorated with lamps. If you leave the diving book at home (mea culpa) and since you are not willing to pay the 10 euros he charges for one of his, he reluctantly gives you a piece of paper from a notepad (it was very difficult to make a sad photocopy) that he doesn’t even It’s not even from the diving center so you can sign up for the two dives you’ve paid for. Yes, surprise!, there is only water for the interval between dives (I have dived in Thailand, Javea, Denia, Indonesia, Ibiza, Menorca……and they always have complimentary cookies or fruit). If of the 4 clients you have, two of them do not have the regulator bit in good condition and have to use the secondary one (checking the equipment before giving it to the client is not their style). If the girl who has just finished an OWD course and is doing a double dive with the same people who gave her the course and they are not able to give her a jacket in her size (two dives with the tank on its side and without achieving buoyancy neutral for it). If to make matters worse you pay for a DOUBLE DIVE in the Tabarca Reserve and the first one is in a wreck (because they say so, and you have to believe them, you had to use your imagination) that is not even close to it…… Well, in the end, no matter how much Julio tries to make the day a decent day (a great professional, things are what they are. Just like the captain of the Zodiak), the morning remains a disappointing dive for not doing things as it touches. One and no more. – via
