absolutely not recommended!
I was supposed to be there at 9 a.m. (I communicated my level intermedio beforehand). I was there earlier and at 9 the assigned teacher wasn’t there and had to be called first. He arrived at quarter past 9, but said that you can’t surf because there are no waves and probably won’t be in the next few days. But he could do the theory (which didn’t make sense since I’ve already surfed many times). They could have told me this in the morning when they told me the exact location via WhatsApp and canceled it straight away. Then I could have saved myself the journey there and the lost time.
Annoying because I had canceled another tour specifically for this.
If you want to surf, I would recommend one of the reliable providers on Isla Colon (Bocas del Toro center)! -via

I had some really fun surf sessions with José at Escuela del Mar. José is a great teacher who makes sure that you are feeling safe in the waves and that you leave with a good feeling and being happy afterwards. Thank you & hopefully see you again! 🙂 – via

We found Escuela del Mar for surf lessons on our last day in Bocas. These guys are great. Wish we would have found them earlier so we could go multiple days. Jose was an awesome instructor and perfect for helping my son and me learn. He took us and some other surfers to a beach with nice waves via boat. A perfect afternoon, Thanks Jose! Luis and Jose gave my two daughters and me a three hour surf lesson this week. They were flexible about accommodating a schedule change when the conditions were not good at the original time. They both were patient, positive, and really encouraging. The learning curve was steep, but they got us all upright for rides of varying lengths. The lesson was one of the highlights of our time in Bocas. – via

Luis was great! He accommodated about 20 of us for lessons over a 2 day period, and was very flexible when numbers had to change due to illness. He is super friendly and the other staff is awesome! We all had a great time with Escuela del Mar – via

awessome!! best school in town! I am not too good in sports but with Luis and Jose as teachers I was able to feel like a real surfer today. They really transmit me the true values about this sport. Jennie and her co-trainer were great! Super supportive and great teachers. All four of us got up! Super easy she was ready to roll before we got there. Great location in Del Mar with perfect waves. Nice gear including wetsuits and boards. She took photos with a waterproof camera which was a nice touch. – via Google

We took lessons with Jenni two years ago and had the most wonderful experience we came back on vacation to San Diego again a few days ago and took another lesson. Already looking forward to our next SD vacation and surf lesson. There were 8 of us in our group the oldest 62 and youngest 6. It was so fun! – via Google
