1.0/ 5

The beach chairs you get if you get food or drinks is an awesome accommodation if you are not renting a room, but the problem is there are a lots of aggressive vendors surrounding the area whom impose their will on the tourists, example: I went with the family of six, bought a lots of drinks, we enjoyed the drinks and amenities, until some ladies showed imposing their will on my wife and then me, offering 10 minutes free massage and we accepted, but then they went over the time, they charged us $125, and I went to complained to the security guard and he concurred when I went to complained and even said to be careful because they could steal from us, by the time it was too late. And the security guard even made a comment “they are not supposed to be using the chairs for massages” but he was letting them and allowing them anyways and later I found out he was in on it because the chief massage lady, (the aggressive one) gave the security guard his mordida and we felt like, if this guy can’t fulfill his duty nor can protect us, then who? That is the reason why tourism is going to go down in west bay and in banorama. Every time we’ve gone to West Bay we have been robbed (we have worst examples) and the aggressive massage lady only gave the poor ladies she had hired only $10 each, that infuriated my wife and my sister in law. Banorama please rein on your premises more closely on the vendors that offers all kinds of services, keep on eye also on some of your security guards whom are not doing their jobs with honor. Protect your interests by getting rid of the surrounding scammers whom also use your premises and they are not even getting drinks. – via google

2.0/ 5

We were in the “Standard Double Room, Ocean View, Beachfront” with 1 king bed (shaped like an octagon, above the ice cream shop, nearest to the ocean).

Cons:
– Water pressure and heat were terrible in the shower. Only a trickle during some parts of the day, and only hot during specific times. (I’ll post a video if this review allows it.)
– No Deck/patio space, as advertised.
– Breakfast was a choice of 6 portion-specific meals, without substitutions. Breakfast coffee and fixings were ignored daily and not stocked.
– Staff generally throughout Roatan are very slow. At Bananarama this was definitely the case, regardless of if the bar/restaurant were very slow- or busy. Attention to customers and speed of bartenders and wait-staff, was poor.
– Coffee-maker in-room, but no coffee supplies.
– Rare evening entertainment (as advertised).
– No gift shop (as advertised).
– Housekeeping walked right into our room one day without knocking, while we were inside.
– Front desk was a bit unorganized. For example they couldn’t organize our heavy luggage being picked up at a resort around the corner (when we were switching resorts, to theirs), even though we asked the day before- and then again at check-in. They also couldn’t find a second room key, until I pushed, and even then they didn’t deliver it- I had to go inquire again. We also asked they call us a taxi, and they called a shuttle van- which charges twice as much.

Items that would be beneficial to add:
– No TV in our room.
– No phone in our room, even to contact Front Desk.
– No lamp in our room, and they weren’t able to bring one when I left a note requesting. Only a bright, overhead light right above the bed, which didn’t reach the corners of the rooms, which were dark.
– No pool on-site.
– People smoked wherever they wanted.
– Boat anchor area/taxi pickup right in front of resort. Not safe for swimming.

Pros:
– Drink prices are reasonable (for the area), especially as compared to Paradise Beach Resort next door.
– Food is generally good.
– Daily drink and meal ‘happy hours’ are good (~3pm-6pm).
– Snorkeling tours, etc. will price-match- so shop around.
– Great location. – via google

We visited Roatan for the second time March 6th thru the 13th. After the first trip, my wife and I were hooked and had to come back. I have always wanted to scuba dive, but could never get up the courage to go. Well, this trip was going to be different.

We went to Bananarama Dive shop on the referral of a friend we have on the island. When we arrived at the shop, we were teamed up with Jordan who would be our guide for our first adventure. None of the people in our group had ever dove before, so we were a green behind the gills team to say the least.

Jordan was extremely patient, professional and thorough with all of us throughout the whole process, even with all of our silly questions and general concerns about what could be expected. After an informative crash course where we learned all the equipment and how to operate it as well as hand signals for all of us to be able to communicate while diving, we were off to the water.

When we entered the water, Jordan made sure well all had equal amount of attention and guidance while learning how to navigate all the equipment and move through the water itself. After we learned what to expect and how to navigate, we were off. Jordan was always within view and was great in pointing out all the marine life that you would never see if you didn’t know what you were looking at. She continuously checked on all of us and made sure we felt comfortable and safe.

This dive ended up being one of the best experiences we have had on the island so far and I recommend the shop and especially Jordan. I definitely think it takes a certain kind of person to take 4 strangers 40 ft. under water for the first time and Jordan is just that. We will definitely be back for more.

Thank you for the five star experience! – via google

Did not stay in the Inn however I was a customer of the Dive shop and Bar/Restaurant. Ben & the team at the dive shop were phenomenal. He was attentive, professional and helpful on our 6 dives. Drink are good (those under 2×1 are almost virgin, but that’s business for you), some food is good, some not (for example stay clear from quesadilla – looks decent but it really is nothing you could not do better yourself). Service is good and welcoming. – via google

The location right in the middle of West Bay was very convenient. The beach chairs were close to the water and bar area. The roped off area gave you a small sense of privacy from all the beach vendors going up and down the beach. The server was friendly and always coming to check on you. We have eaten there before and found the food OK. The one main issue I have is on Cruise ship days it costs you $15 per chair to sit on the beach. Even if you are staying local. I find that unfair to the locals. They are free on non-cruise ship days, but you then have to work your schedule around on those days, which may be very inconvenient. – via google
