I went on the Adelaar 10 day trip from Bali to Komodo and back, on their first trip back after the pandemic in April 2022.The trip was absolutely incredible. It is a first class operation with friendly and helpful staff. I am an intermediate diver and this is my 5th trip to Asia, and the diving was the best I have seen.

There is a huge diversity in diving on this trip, from some macro (not the best macro trip but good) including frogfish, ghost pipefish, bobtail octopus and seahorses, to large manta rays and even whale sharks on this particular trip. We saw many of my favorite cuttlefish and a large variety and quantity of fish, swimming around endless landscapes of diverse coral.

The boat was comfortable and staff superb. We spent most of our time around a large table in the middle of the top deck. We ate all our meals there and hung out between dives. My Master Cabin was large and extremely comfortable, with A/C pumping nicely on hot days and water pressure and heat just right. There are 4 guest cabins so max 8 guests, and about 12 crew on our trip.

Cooking was great every meal, and I am a picky eater. Breakfast was to-order, lunch and dinner were delicious. Nothing fancy but tasty and diverse. The cruise directors Lorine and Reto were very pleasant, had informed dive briefs, and were great dive guides. Diving was off a skiff and they helped switch tanks throughout the day. Water tanks were available to rinse equipment and we hung our wetsuits on lines in the upper deck.

Even the office staff was friendly and responsive. Transfers were arranged and were timely. The benefit of this trip is it left and came back to Bali, which is easy to get to internationally (I took Singapore Air from New York USA which was wonderful). The downside is there is more time on the boat in transit to Komodo, but I love the boat versus island hopping on a plane.

This is a 5 star operation and you can’t go wrong if you are looking for a trip of your lifetime and the best diving in the world. – via

Outstanding family holidays!

We have joined Adelaar last year as a family of four with kids at the age of 14 and 17 years and it was an outstanding experience for all of us. Adelaar is a stunning vessel of 38 meters with 4 beautiful and perfectly designed cabins that can host 8 guests at the highest standards. The very attendant crew did a perfect job starting with breakfast in the morning to our individual order, with the assistance while gearing up before your dives or other watersports activities, your afternoon drinks and snacks until dinner in the evening. We could recharge our batteries between our dives at the shady foredeck for upcoming events. Every night, we have picked out a movie from the choice of hundreds of movies from the multimedia system in our cabin before having a comfy and airconditioned sleep. Komodo’s underwater world is incredible and the diving and water sports experience with the guides of Adelaar’s crew makes it an unforgettable experience. We were lucky to have nice company with the other guests on board and overall our holidays were beyond our expectation, therefore we can just warmly recommend Adelaar and its crew. – via

Un seul mot…Inoubliable! Nous avons embarqué pour une croisière à bord d’Adelaar en Novembre 2019. Nous avons passé un super moment à Labuan Bajo grâce aux recommandations de l’équipe d’Adelaar, mais c’est lorsque que le bateau quitte le port que la vraie aventure commence. Nous sommes allés de surprise en surprise et nos sourires ne nous ont pas quittés du séjour. Nous avons pu nous adonner à notre passion dans un cadre idyllique, un vrai spectacle à chaque fois que l’on se trouvait sous la surface. Notre coup de cœur reste bien évidemment les danses des raies mantas. Pour ce qui est du service, il est tout simplement impeccable, l’équipage est chaleureux et au petit soin, impossible de ne pas se sentir comme chez soi. I was aboard Adelaar for a 12-day cruise to the Alor Archipelago, east of Flores, in October 2019. This trip was amazing from start to finish! The boat is an experience in itself, and sailing enthusiasts will be delighted to browse all the rooms in search of information on the unique history of this old rig.
Wonderful diving, with enough to satisfy macro enthusiasts as well as pelagic enthusiasts. Keep an eye around the boat because October is whale migration season 😉
Alor is an ideal destination for seasoned divers in search of authenticity, but beware of the current! Adelaar, I will return because you now hold a special place in my heart.

J’étais à bord d’Adelaar pour une croisière de 12 jours sur l’archipel d’Alor, à l’Est de Flores, en Octobre 2019. Ce voyage a été extraordinaire de début à la fin! Le bateau est une expérience à lui tout seul, et les passionnés de navigation seront ravis d’y parcourir toutes les pièces en quête d’informations sur l’histoire unique de ce vieux gréement.

As a travel writer and photographer, I am privileged to meet with a broad scope of products and businesses around the world, so I believe it’s so important to give credit where credit is due. As a diver and frequent liveaboard traveller, if you are looking for a luxury and extremely intimate diving experience, Adelaar Cruises is at the top of experiences. With only 4 cabins for guests, it feels very much like your own private sailing boat, stopping at some of the world’s most spectacular dive sites. The food is brilliant, staff like family (some have worked on vessel for 25 years which says it all to me), interior polished and elegant, and if interested in the finer details, the air conditioning was a huge thing for me. I normally resign myself to annoying air conditioning on every vessel I go on – it just goes with cabin life. It’s either hot and stuffy, blowing in your face, musty, freezing, whatever (a sore throat ensues). But not on Adelaar. Upon stating this, I was told there was indeed some intricate different system, that obviously works amazingly. I have nothing to fault about this entire experience and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a first class diving adventure. The location of Komodo within the Coral Triangle, also ensures that the diving you will do will be some of the most bio-diverse ever experienced.
