I can’t even begin to tell you what a fantastic stay I am having. Traveling to Costa Rica for almost 20 years and never venturing up north to Nicaragua my bad. This is a beautiful country with very friendly people and yes world class surf.
One week at Dale Dagger surf lodge isn’t enough. Mike and his staff have gone above and beyond to make my stay a experience I will never forget. Make no mistake this is a first class operation I almost feel guilty about the incredible amount of attention they have given me. All you need to do is surf. Food is prepared by Maria and is waiting for you when you return from your surf. Every meal has been outstanding. Ramon and Elvin the surf guides are wonderful people and great surfers helpful both in and out of the water.
The lodge it’s self is spotless and comfortable with a great view of the setting sun.
I’m not a ripper by any means, but that wasn’t a problem they made sure I surfed breaks that suited my level. When I get home I will be planning a return trip in the fall. Can’t wait!
There’s always risk when traveling whether it’s in Europe, Mexico, Central America or the United States of America. I have felt safe the entire time during my stay here in Nicaragua.

Wow, a trip of a lifetime. I recently visited during the last week of July 2018. It pains me to hear about the hardships going on the country and I pray it has a peaceful ending. Mike was amazing. He set up a reliable ride and confirmed the pickup with Alex as soon as I was in the car. We went straight to the coast and I did not encounter any road blacks or troubles. Things on the coast were very quiet and tranquil. With the primary mission being surfing, I had come to the right place. Crowds were minimal and there were many times where I was the only surfer in the water at world class spots. The lodge is set up to give you a personalized experience with Mike and the crew matching your skill level to the conditions and your personal appetite. Mike was was extremely thorough in helping set up travel options that would allow safe passage in the event political conditions changed; charter flights, taxis to Costa Rica, etc. in the event they were needed. I had absolutely no problems riding to and from Managua and got to experience the surf trip of a lifetime; surfing eight (8) different spots with unheard of crowd sizes as in zero people out! The locals can use the business and you will be rewarded with a surfers paradise. Having Mike do everything within his power to ensure a safe trip made it an easy decision and I was rewarded with a trip of a lifetime. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking to fulfill your surfing dreams. Thanks, Mike, Walter, Elvin, Maria and Ramon for doing such an incredible job and allowing me to focus on Surfing, not politics and feeling safe the entire trip.
