Valmorel fue nuestro destino para una semana de esquí en 2019. Se trata de una estación de la Tarentaise (Alpes Franceses) próxima al célebre Col de la Madeleine (un reputado puerto del Tour de Francia).
La estación es muy agradable y bastante tranquila. Diría que bastante bonita y funcional, con multitud de alojamientos “skis au pieds” (a pie de pistas literalmente). Destaca su calle principal (rue du Bourg) con comercios, bares y restaurantes, ideal para pasear y hacer après-ski (ver las fotos).
El dominio de pistas de Valmorel sería equivalente a las estaciones medias-grandes del Pirineo. Con el forfait de Valmorel se puede esquiar también en las pistas de la vecina Doucy. En cambio, para esquiar en Saint-François-Longchamp hace falta un forfait adicional: Grand Domaine.
Con el forfait Grand Domaine la extensión de pistas de esquí se pone al nivel de los dominios más grandes del Pirineo (Grandvalira o Baqueira).
