We thoroughly enjoyed a very interesting day with our guide Aaron. We learned intriguing and interesting previously unknown facts about the aborigine culture and their way of life. Aaron described in detail and demonstrated the traditions and home remedies using plants to cure a variety of ailments. Most proved to provide great relief. His knowledge of the rainforest and local efforts to preserve it were especially impactful. Highly recommend this tour with Aaron and of the fascinating natural wonders of the area. – via google

Aaron is the best tour guide ever!! This was our favorite tour of our trip!! We had 7 of us from age 15-80 years old and he kept every one of us engaged and entertained! We were only able to do a 1/2 day tour due to having to catch a flight and wish we would’ve been able to do a full day tour. He was able to show us so much within our time constraints. Thank you so much for such a great tour! From your American friends in Cincinnati, Ohio. – via google

Our guide did pick a variety of plants and told about their “medical” uses. However there was really no explanations about culture, community or even rain forest. It was raining and we did very little walking, mostly drove. We did see a cassowary. – via google

My partner and I spent a week in port Douglas/Mossman recently and had a jam packed week as we wanted to see as much of the area as possible. The walk-about tour with Juan was without a doubt the best part of our week! An absolute legend who shared many wonderful stories of the Kuku Yalanji people and their knowledge of the land.

From what fruits are edible to medicines that are found through the bush/rainforest, we also walked through the mangroves learning about the different species and their importance to the balance of life and protection of the coastline and once we were out of the mangroves we all got to have a try of the spear, we caught nothing so Juan had to help out so we didn’t go hungry catching us a mud crab and a shark to try.

The tour was wrapped up with a swim in a fresh water creek to cool down and we all shared some more food while Juan shared more stories of culture and country. I’d obviously recommend a walk-about tour to anyone travelling to the area, something for everyone and we left well fed and full of knowledge giving us more to appreciate about the land than just its beauty. – via google

Just got back from a Walkabout tour in the Daintree rainforest. It was a privilege to learn about the Kuku Yalanji people. Our guide Juan brought some of his mum’s damper. I ate so much of it – no regrets, 10/10 would do it again. – via google
