I’m sorry to say I had a terrible experience at this shop. I brought my gear in to be serviced months before my December dive trip to Grand Cayman. The gear was shipped out for service,never heard of that before, and returned weeks later. I paid for “Full Service” as indicated on my ticket and my bill. On my first dive the BCD failed! It was self inflating and made for a terrible dive. I had to rent a BCD for the subsequent dives that day. This was Christmas Eve and I had to drive 45 minutes into Georgetown to Divers Direct. Thankfully they were open! The tech there diagnosed the problem quickly and repairs were made.
Bottom line, I will NEVER go to this shop again! I can’t trust them with my gear. I did go to the shop after my trip to discuss this, but I didn’t get a good response.
I will just say beware. I learned my lesson. – via

5 star PADI Dive Shop. Couldn’t have asked for a better shop and instructors to get me through a certification I was nervous to acquired. Mike and Jonathan are so kind and patient. Patience of a saint! From the beginning to the end, 12ft pool to 60ft quarry for my open water diver certification, they gave me the time and space to really be comfortable and learn in the best environment. Thank you so much for helping me find my footing (or neutral buoyancy) to truly enjoy scuba diving and my journey to “think like a diver”. – via

Just finished up with Mike and Jonathan for my Open Water Certification complete. Sun’s Up Scuba was a great fit for me. They were very accommodating to my crazy schedule and the training was excellent. Excellent equipment for training and they were very knowledgeable on helping a novice like me pick out the right equipment like fins and mask. Mike gave me honest guidance from day one and Jonathan did a great job training me. Don’t take my word, just call them, you will see. – via

I love my scuba family! Over Covid my husband and I decided to learn to scuba. We took the class and became certified with Sun’s Up through Mike and Jonathan. They were both very patient with us and we took to it immediately. Since then we have gone on diving trips with the group to Roatan and Caicos and look forward to Bon Aire next spring. Their support and encouragement have opened a whole new world to us and we look forward to many more years of diving and exploring with them! – via

Love Suns Up Scuba. We got our first PADI certification thru them a few years ago. The instructors actually care about you and your safety and take the time to make sure you are comfortable and know your skills. The store has a great selection of dive gear for every need with many of the major brands and the workers actually dive so you can get great advice. We have also taken 2 amazing trips with them. It’s a great bunch of people and we are looking forward to many more. – via

I got certified here for PADI Open Water. I am not the most comfortable in the water, but the instructors here are amazing. Mike was so patient at times when I would get really nervous. He would take his time and not rush me, yet would make sure I could perform the skills needed. Sarah is very experienced and has a very calm way of teaching. She made my last dive extremely smooth. They also have the best pricing in the Charlotte area. I HIGHLY recommend! – via

Myself and my 11 year old son were certified in open water diving through suns up scuba on 5/29/22. They were absolutely WONDERFUL PEOPLE!! I had some difficulty completing one of the must preform task to get certified and at NO TIME did I ever feel like the instructors were giving up on me! It was actually the opposite. They encouraged me and kept trying to give me other techniques to complete the task. They allowed me to keep coming to the confined space ( pool ) dives until was was able and comfortable doing the task and then move onto the open water dives and certification completion! Instructors Mike ( shop owner ) Jonathan, Scott and Sarah are top notch dive instructors and my son and I will DEFINITELY be returning to suns up scuba to get our advanced certification once we get some dives under our belts and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Suns Up Scuba if you’re considering getting certified in scuba! Call or stop by and see them and they’ll help get the ball rolling on your certification and see you through till the end!!
