I want to start by saying I have a masters in scuba diving (MSD). Were it not for the young American girl helping me I would have taken my leave much sooner. I should also make it clear that vape smoke contributes to allergic reactions, and having vape smoke blown at my face by the instructor Tassos created a lot of problems for me as you could imagine.
During our boat dive, the young girl working at this establishment who carefully and thoughtfully helped me and others in the group ensure our equipment was safe and secure was told off for seemingly no reason at all. The workplace is no place for personal grievances, and I found this behavior completely unacceptable. Had I not been a comfortable diver I would have not taken part in the dive as this made me very uncomfortable.
I can swim just fine, and I myself was treated just fine – but I can’t help but notice how other guests and staff were treated during my time. To see others that, mind you, are also experienced swimmers, yelled at, berated, and downright treated poorly is very disheartening. I go diving to feel free, I clearly understood what I was doing as I do this frequently and was there to support everyone else in my group. – via

I contacted Kerveli Dive Centre via email to arrange two boat dives (one trip, two dives). I am an experienced diver so via mail they advices me which dat the group would have a more experienced level. And this was correct, all divers were experienced which made for a relaxt and stress free dive. I also rented equipment. The equipment works well but is a bit worn out. No issues, just looks and feels a bit dated but worked fine. They did not supply a depth gauge or a clock. When I asked if they had one, I could get a dive computer which worked perfect! Tip; do ask them for a dive computer when you are not carrying one yourself. In diving it’s better to have your own stuff arranged AND rely on your buddy. The boat was small but that was no problem because we were with three divers, two instructors/dive masters. It was a RIB boat and they had a big outboard motor in it. Underwater there was a nice purple colored wall we dived alongside. It was nice and the experience from being underwater is always nice for a diver. Marine life was a bit disappointing. Some small fish, one moray eel and that was it. Of course this has nothing to do with the dive centre! During the one hour surface time we went to a different place and got a bottle of water. The only thing I really missed is the social aspect of diving. When I walked up to the dive location to sign up. There were two ladies who just gave me the forms to fill in. I started a small conversation but later when the instructors and other divers arrived, everybody was silent. The instructors did not introduce themselves (I don’t know any of their names). Neither did they ask questions or tell something about the company. During the dive this did not change. For me -maybe it’s personal- diving is also a social event; meet other divers/travellers and sharing stories. It is easy to change so hopefully next group gets an introduction from one of the dive masters, making it more personal and not silent! Nice touch; my family got to relax at the hotel pool during my dives! – via

Pasos, the lead instructor, didn’t build rapport with us, which left me anxious and patronised. He wasn’t welcoming, spent ages ogling the young women who had just finished instead of getting started with our safety briefing, blew vape smoke at us, etc etc. He was rude and brusque.
I had trouble because my legs are bouyant, which I found out later is a common problem for women, but instead of helping me with ankle weights and explaining that it was common, he yelled at me to try harder and told me that his colleague would “hold me down” without thinking that this would be problematic. I am a great swimmer, I completed an Olympic distance triathlon, including a mile swim in open water. To not have control over my movement in the water was disconcerting, to be told off for this was the final straw. I don’t want to be “held down”, I want to feel freedom pf movement in the water. This is why I wanted to dive!
I also had soap in my eye, and the face mask wasn’t fitted well. The young American assistant was nice, she tried to help me, but Pasos was just as rude to her and, quite frankly, with that level of team cohesion I did not feel comfortable to dive and I left. Pasos yelled at me as I left. I get the feeling that few people disobey him.

– via

A little shocked by any negative reviews. We found the crew absolutely lovely and very on top of safety. They run very efficiently and effectively. Food is delicious and plentiful and there’s something for everyone. Dives were gorgeous — Koh Bon is mind blowing —with unbelievable variety and quantities of life. Compares well with my experience on a liveaboard on the GBR. Of course, ignore any idiot who complains about not seeing “macrolife,” as if the dive boat has any control over where the mantas are swimming that day. (Translated by Google) Amazing experience snorkeling with Captain Andrea, he has a lot of energy and a lot of humor and a good boat operator!
As far as scuba diving is concerned, the bottom is nice but the theory that precedes it was quite short, and for beginners the beach is difficult to enter because you have all the equipment on your shoulder and it is heavy

I had the pleasure of doing my Divemaster Internship in the Dive Center. I got plenty of hands on experience and grew not only as a diver, but also professionally as a whole. For the customers there are many dive spots (each unique) that are chosen daily taking in consideration the weather, the diver’s experience, and also trying to make sure the customer doesn’t do only the same spots during the stay. The place holds a special place in my heart. – via
