Sometimes cruise ship arrival and departure times don’t make scuba diving easy, but the docking times for the Carnival Spirit on 18/1/23 were perfect for two private afternoon and one night dive. Heaven for a diver on a day stop in Bonaire!
Through a FaceBook referral, I learned of Xprodiver Bonaire. Sigrid was quick to respond to my request and set up a fantastic afternoon for me with Maarten! Even though I had all my gear except fins, weights and air, I appreciated the cautionary request to set everything up in the shop before leaving. Clear dive plans, including shore entry and exit, were discussed before hefting our gear out thru the rocky entrances at the dive sites. Safety was a priority throughout!
We dove Angel City and Red Slave in the afternoon. Visibility wasn’t pristine due to recent surge, but we had a good 30’-40’. This allowed us to see each other easily and still be able to individually search the nooks and crannies of the reef. Fish were plentiful, including Drum (mature and immature), Lion , Parrot (of many varieties), Peacock Flounder, Trumpet, Angel (French and Queen), Goat, schools of Blue Cromis and the list goes on and on! Also the largest Blue Parrotfish I’ve ever seen, chomping away on the coral. We were treated to a family of large porcupine fish with their sad eyes, a lettuce sea slug, and shrimp galore: coral banded, spotted cleaner and waving Pedersen’s! Green and Hawksbill turtles as well. What an afternoon! Both dives were 1hr 10+ minutes with plenty of air (but not time) to spare!
After a quick stop at Xprodiver Bonaire’s shop, where we were provided ham and gouda sandwiches, we headed off for our night dive.
We entered Salt Pier just as the last vestiges of sun were leaving the horizon. Initially in just 7’ of water (we eventually saw 34’) the afternoon’s amazing dives were immediately outdone when an eagle ray soared above us, tarpon became our companions and green and spotted moray eels were out on the hunt! Sleeping fish, barracuda, southern sting ray, slipper lobster and those beautiful copper eyes of all the shrimp were among our finds. The best however, for me, was a Berthellina Quadridens sea slug. A beautiful orange blob with antennas? I had no idea what it was…and almost missed the octopus wrapped in the rocks beside it! After an hour we were escorted back to the shore by adorable Caribbean reef squid.
I don’t think the smile has left my face for this perfect day of diving with Xprodiver Bonaire! So blessed to see Bonaire on a beautiful day!

We arrived on a cruise ship and walked down to the Xpro dive shop. Martijn greeted us and after showing our dive certs started getting our gear. It was fun to chat with him and talk about diving. We drove to the pier for our first dive. Martijn was so helpful in getting my bcd and bottle into deeper water for me. (It’s very rocky and I’m 60 ) the dive was fantastic, lots of colorful fish and coral. We had a nice long dive, Martijn showed us things we would’ve missed seeing on our own. During our surface interval Martijn took us to see flamingos and the salt flats, loved both. Our next dive was just as fabulous. Talking to Martijn was so much fun and he took great care of us during the dives. We highly recommend Xpro dive and especially Martijn! – via

Excellent dives with Xprodiver! The sites are wonderful, and the team is fantastic. Martijn and Sigrid are super friendly, professional, helpful and flexible. The weather become rough after our first dive, and they were able to postpone our second dive to a better day. Our kids did their first scuba diving introduction with Xprodiver: we felt it was the perfect place and conditions for this! Hope we will come back one day. Thank you so much!!! – via

I highly recommend this store for any of your diving needs. If you need expert advice with friendly services and quilty equipment, this is the best place to go on the whole island.
I recently went there to look for a new BC. The staff kindly asked me to return at a later day so that the person who is the expert with the BC I was interested in,would be there. When I went back, they custom fitted all my equipment so much, it felt like I’ve worn it before. They gave me a lot of advice and offerd me plenty of information with no effort at all. Their prices are also very reasonable. I found equipment cheaper than any of the other stores on the island. They even gave reasonable discounts and threw a few nick naks in for free!

Excellent ownership and dive instructors whose first concerns are your learning, your comfort, and your safety.
Took the PADI Open Water certification course over three days and had a blast. It’s hard to find any place that does it in the same time frame, let alone for a PADI cert and at a competitive price. The first day felt intimidating, but by the second we felt confident and capable thanks to their training. If you struggle with anything, they will gladly work with you through it.

Excelente lugar para que los niños tomen clases de natación y para hacer cursos de buceo PADI. Tiene estacionamiento, el personal es muy atento y profesional. También se pueden comprar equipos de buceo de muy buena calidad y a precios muy competitivos en el mercado. Organizan viajes de buceo a diferentes sitios a nivel nacional e internacional.
