I planned to stay for 5 nights. After seeing our room I would have left immediately if there was anywhere else local to stay. Room and building were very run down. The carpet in the stairwell was frayed and stained, Doors to the rooms didn’t shut well and had to be slammed. The chair in our room was so heavily used it had greasy looking armrests. The list could go on forever. Tile floor in the hallway makes roller bags, screaming kids, and drunks echo throughout the building. The food is terrible. They charge a resort fee for when they have fewer amenities than the local Holiday inn. The hot tub was so heavily chlorinated my girlfriend’s bathing suit was ruined, and we both had dry itchy skin for days afterward. We left as soon as we could find a different place to stay. Both managers, one at the time and one since assured me they would refund my money for the nights I canceled. I have received no refund. The location, and the adventure center next door are great, but you can use them without staying here. I wouldn’t stay here again if they paid me. You would be better off sleeping in a car. Less chance of catching some strange disease. This place is a filthy run down tourist trap. I would highly recommend the adventure center next door. The staff in the office, and our guides for the manatee swim tour, and the sunset cruise were great. – via
