In december 2022 met 16 personen van onze duikclub naar de Malediven geweest. Een liveaboard op de Amba van 11 nachten.
Ondanks de grote groep was het voor Diving World geen probleem om dit te organiseren. Ook al werden vluchten gecanceld of kwam er al eens verrassing uit de kast gevallen, constructieve oplossingen werden aangeboden. De Amba is een goede boot om met 16 man, 11 dagen te verblijven. Heel goed van eten en accommodatie. De duiken zijn goed georganiseerd met zeer bekwame gidsen en crew. Altijd bereid om te helpen of aan de wensen te voldoen. Wel een aandachtspuntje voor de totaal prijs van de reis, welke niet van in het begin duidelijk was. Bij Amba en misschien ook bij andere boten in de Malediven moet je rekening houden met een service kost van 10%, meestal cash te betalen die boven op de prijs komt.

Behalve het verblijf zelf aan boord liep ALLES mis:
1. Er is geen info gegeven over de noodzakelijkheid van een pre-check-in voor de vlucht (aanmaken QR-code). Dit voor een groep van 14 personen moeten doen voor de balie zorgt voor stress vooralleer te vertrekken
2. Priijsaanpassingen (verhoging van 400 € en meer) door diverse verplichte extra’s (service cost, niet aangekondigde fuel extra’s…). Die meerkost diende dan nog CASH te worden meegenomen (wie reist er graag op een vlucht met ongeveer 1000€ cash geld op zak?)
3. Verplichte check-in op een niet-te verifiëren site waarbij volgende gegevens verplicht in te vullen zijn: naam, geboortedatum, e-mail adres, GSM en PASPOORTNUMMER). Ik ben al tientallen keren verwittigd over phishing en identiteitsdiefstal. Die check-in kwam vanwege hun partner, maar zij DiingWorld draagt hiervoor wel de verantwoordelijkheid
4. Wachttijd van 6 uur in de haven van Male tussen aankomst van de vlucht en het ophalen door de boot.
Met andere woorden: al wat divingworld moest doen liep fouter dan fout, waar is het voordeel om alles in één pakket te boeken?

Dave runs a great dive shop and school. It’s full of character and charm which many places sadly have lost to over commercial looking premises….Not here, Dave is an outstanding relaxed instructor and makes you feel at home the minute you walk in the door. No pushy sales (although there is a great amount of choice) and he and his staff will do their best to give you what you need from a dive trip to a full on course.
We dived and gained lots of knowledge of the area both land and sea…. Absolutely first class and you should definitely visit them during a holiday to get air refills or to rank up your skill base.
