The crew was great! They were very helpful and nice to beginners. It’s really a really pretty reef! But let me tell you, people need to prepare more! So many people sea sick and overall just ruining the experience for others. Take Dramamine, you never know the oceans conditions, as the water was pretty rough. Our whole family took it and no one got sick but others were pretty miserable ?? – via

The whole experience at Captain Hooks on Big Pine Key was smooth and a blast. The crew was excellent when we went out to snorkel as beginners. Basic gear is included in the excursion.
We had 3-5 ft waves when we arrived but with excellent visibility. We all went in and got to see some amazing coral reef wildlife. Saw a couple sea turtles, and too many species of fish to list. The captain stopped in the clearest area with the plan to move up to a spot with some smaller waves, great. We all snorkeled, some took in sea water and got back on the boat early, a couple others experienced sea sickness. I got to snorkel for about 30 minutes and returned to the boat. Once in, the captain and crew noted the visibility in the water was turning. The divers came up after me and confirmed there was nearly no visibility.
The captain then offered all passengers the option of continuing to the area with calmer seas or returning as many were not feeling well. We all opted for the early return. The captain then graciously offered to reimburse all paying passengers 50% of the fees. This was very unexpected and appreciated by passengers!
These folks love the ocean, that is apparent. They are the obvious choice in our opinion. – via

While I am sure there are many great dive shops in the keys, this one is amazing. Despite battling unfavorable weather while we were there that forced some rescheduling they still managed to get my wife checked out on her open water and me on my AOW. Wayne was our divemaster and he was fantastic. He was patient and thorough with our needed instruction. Outside the water he was a wealth of knowledge about the local area from places to dive to places to eat and even tales of the local reconnaissance ballon. We lucked into have the boat to ourselves the second day out on the Vandenberg and at haystacks. The trip was wonderful thanks to Captain Rick who was working on his days off in order to make our trip happen. My wife and I both highly recommend Wayne, Rick and Captain Hook’s. – via

Five Stars. I went there to receive instruction and certification for Full Face Mask. Everyone from the owner, my Full Face Mask instructor Frank, Captain Ron (yep), David, and crew were awesome! All of them went out of their way to make sure everyone was having the best experience possible.
When I go back to Key West, I will be going to Captain Hook’s. Without a doubt. – via

Had a great time diving with Captain Hook’s. Everything about the trip was excellent: the crew, the gear, and the dives. They are very safety and environmentally conscious. We went out to Looe Reef, which is only a max depth of about 30 ft, but we still saw so much including multiple sharks, rays, eels, and some lionfish hiding away, in addition to all the other great fish out there. Would definitely go again the next time we’re in the Keys – via
