5.0/ 5

Stayed here for 8 nights, traveling solo. Did two dives and the whale shark trip. Here’s everything:

Positives:

-Biggest positive is the staff. Everyone was SO FRIENDLY and in a very genuine way. Absolutely wonderful people. Dino runs the dive center and he’s super chill. I hurt my neck my first day here and he had zero problem canceling a dive and was even insistent that I not worry and just wait until I was feeling good so I could enjoy it. Restaurant staff were attentive, polite, and generally super nice. Managers of the resort were just as wonderful. Dives guides were awesome.

-I did both dives with Berlino and he was excellent. He even asked me to move my juck dive from one spot I had picked to another, because he knew I love flamboyant cuttlefish and he had seen more at the other site. And we did see them, thanks to him! Night dive at the pier was as amazing as you’ve heard about.

-Prices were very reasonable. Rooms, food, and diving. Nothing was the cheapest I’ve ever seen but it was all very reasonable especially for a place this far out. Private room on the beach with a private porch with hot water and AC for around 30usd a night.

-Resort had a pool and a small place with some gym equipment, pool table, and places to chill outdoors and indoors. I didn’t use the pool as it was pretty cold and the sun is only on it half the day, but I’m always cold haha. Most guests would find it perfect and a welcome refuge from the sun.

Negatives:

Honestly nothing too negative but there are a few things to consider

-The resort is isolated. You can get to town in 30min walking or a 15p tricycle ride, but even in town there aren’t many options for eating or nightlife. But I still loved the walk and did it a few times. The local people here are so friendly and everyone waves and smiles and says hi.

-Because it’s not a tourist spot, limited options for food. The resort restaurant was pretty reasonably priced especially for a dive resort, and that’s where you’ll mostly be eating. Mostly western dishes, but there are a few local options available as well. Great breakfast!

-If it’s raining, you’ll have to get a little wet to go to the restaurant or dive shop. Not too bad, just a few meters. Bring an umbrella or just do what I did and deal with it.

-weather is pretty unpredictable here. It’s the case in most tropical paradises. I was lucky that the month of rain settled down the same day I arrived. The sea cleared up and it was amazing. But there is always some luck involved, as there’s no real ‘dry’ season. But hey, when the afternoon rain comes, go workout and play pool or have a snack, then get back out an hour later.

-dive equipment is a bit worn. Wetsuits and bcds are showing their age, but they still work, and I saw them doing safety testing. Never felt unsafe for a second! This is because of the super typhoon last year. They had to rebuild so much. They’ll likely get restocked shortly. In the interim, it’s just vanity and everything is safety tested and works great.

Overall:

-I can’t say enough good things about this place, and the people are the biggest reason. Thanks for everything! – via google

We stayed in the Condo, which was spacious. The interior of the room was basic, but it had everything we needed. The whole point of us staying here was because of the whalesharks. When I inquired about our booking for 5 nights and the whale shark tour, they told me they were only doing a whale shark trip on our last day. I thought that was a risk, because if we wouldn’t see them or the trip would be cancelled because of bad weather, there would be no time left to try again. Therefore I insisted a few times that we really wanted to do a tour earlier in our stay, but they couldn’t plan another trip and told me I should book a private tour with another resort if I really want to do it. The private tour was way more expensive than the joined tour Peters Dive Resort offered, so we were not too happy about it. When we arrived in Peters Dive Resort, all of the sudden they told us they were doing two more whale shark tours the next day AND the day after that, BUT those tours were fully booked so we were to late joining them. I was VERY unhappy about that. We specifically told them we wanted to do another (earlier) trip and they didn’t even let us know when they were planning extra trips. Also, when they checked us in they didn’t give us any information. They just had us sign something and gave us the key. They told us nothing about scuba dive trips, the times for dinner/breakfast, their facilities etc. At dinner, I ordered a glass of wine but it never came. When I asked them about it, they said I could only order a bottle. That was annoying, especially since I had to ask myself after I was waiting for the wine. Over all, the customer service could be a lot better! The dive trip was nice, but nothing special. We didn’t have time for buddy checks, or at least they didn’t really make sure we did them, but that’s not the first time I experienced this in the Philippines. – via google

The dorms were good – 2 per room so really private. Unfortunately only 2 people from our group of 20 saw the whalesharks during our tour. We were very gutted, but what can you do – it’s wildlife. – via google

Very good experience with this dive centre. Although the weather was bad but the DMs are very detailed in what they do… the way they ask the divers to check the nitrox tank and recorder down the details is a good practice.
Our package was 10 dives, with full board. Room was a little disappointed, but facilities are quite good.
The food selection was plentiful. I had different meals everyday for my 5 days at this dive centre.
Dive sites are also perfect. I highly recommend Medicare north and south. In fact, I could just dive at these two places and it would be sufficient for 5 days.
We signed up for whale shark package and it was done perfectly. We had 8 spotters and they did their best to maximize of whale shark chasing experience. If you have extra budget, please do this trip. – via google

(Translated by Google) We did 6 dives here and then did the whale shark tour.
Our DiveMaster (Arnel) really did everything to show us a wide variety of different animals – the boat crew is also great!

The rooms (dorm for 2 for PhP 400 per person) are perfectly adequate and equipped appropriately for the price (cold shower, window with fly screens, bunk bed, fan, chair and table)

The food in the restaurant was really great, as you don’t have many choices in the area we ate here most of the time and had enough veg and non veg options to vary.

Finally, we had the opportunity to rent a scooter (500 PhP per day) – it was in perfect condition.

Can only recommend the resort – especially if you want to stay longer than just one night for the whale sharks.

(Original)

– via google
