J’ai passé une super journée à pratiquer le freediving avec Laura comme instructeur sur le site de Koh Haa.
Grâce à son calme et ses bon conseils j’ai pu atteindre mon objectif de profondeur mais aussi apprendre à faire des ronds sous l’eau, visiter des grottes, voir plein d’espèces marines différentes et faire des plongées amusantes.

Without a doubt, it is the best PADI dive center I have been on.

We were 2 AOW divers (one of us did a refresher course) 1 discover scuba dive and 1 snorkelling.

The DSD and refresher (and OWD) is done in the adjacent pool of the hotel that has a specialised spot for the diving course, going at a 2.5m deep at its center.

Amana, our instructor, was always kind and caring, making everyone feel comfortable. From what we could see on the 3 days we dived, plus the total 7 days staying at the hotel, all instructors were calm, patient and thorough. Safety is at the focous point of the whole process.

Out lovely Babu was a patient and knowledgeable snorkeling guide, helping our friend fight his fear of water.

Amana was not only the DSD instructur but also our guide during the dives and did the most amazing job showing us great spots while keeping us all safe. His calming manner and professionalism were always welcome and we hope to come back to dive with him again. Thank you so much, Amana!

Regarding organisation, the tides make it all a challenge, but either by fiber boat or speed boat, we always got to our Dhow. Once, we left with a bus to get to another boarding spot, but all went as smoothly as when we left from the usual shore. Organisation really 5 stars.

Laura and Jessica, thank you so much for your patience in answering our questions and accommodating us, especially when we had to cancel the dive on such short notice. You are the best

If you come to zanzibar for diving, do yourself a favour and go check Scuba Fish. You will not regret it. Ok, maybe you will because you might not want to go anywhere else

EDIT after reading some of the less positive comments:

For all the “experienced divers” that complain about the diving time: this side of the island is very much affected by the tides. It means you need to leave and you NEED to come back in a very tight timeline. This will have an impact on your diving time. Either you do one site and a long dive, or you see 2 sites in 2 shorter (never less than 45 min or 50 bar) dive.

Also, for the divers complaining about issues with equipment: if you are an AOW or higher, it is your job to check your equipment before diving. They also have spare everything in the boat in case of an issue. Communication is key. – via

Eine verspätete Bewertung aber die ist uns wichtig. Wir waren im November 2019 dort. Scubafish ist absolut Top. Wir waren schon oft in Thailand Tauchen und haben viel gesehen aber was uns dort geboten wurde war einfach Klasse und rechtfertigt den Preis. Top Tauchguides, Top Boot, Klasse Crew, Sauberkeit, tolles leckeres Essen…. und der Hammer ist, es gibt trockene saubere Handtücher an Bord. (noch nie erlebt) Macht bitte weiter so und wir kommen wieder!!! – via

I purchased a “fun dive” day here Feb2020, 2 dives that cost around 130 euros. The local staff was nice, the British dive master girl was chill, but the instructor seemed to hate me from the moment we met. He made his jokes and remarks at my expense and was mostly nowhere to be seen. Also with his long fins he propelled past all the sights like a torpedo, so the “dive” was playing catch up against the current. Yes both dives were against the current and the guide instructor would not stop. He went past all the sealife to pedal against the current into areas of dead coral. The least professional dive guide I’ve ever had. Sudden bursts of friendliness and professionalism struck him when he was trying to sell me something at times for a few seconds. If I didn’t buy he would punish me with exclusion? Also I was promised a maximum group size of 4 but even our part of the group was 5 persons and all the groups were on top of each other so this was an outright lie or terribly mismanaged. Divers were all around me circling under and over, except for the guide who was pedalling over dead coral like a torpedo. Horrible experience, I do not recommend this dive center for anything except chatting with the local office staffs. The most crowded, most overpriced, shallowest, shortest, disappointing dives of my 120 dives. And the most tiring ones. When my instructor was sheltering from the current, instantly when I catch up he just went on. I tried to take my own stops to observe some sea life but the guide would not wait. Whole of 2 dives AGAINST CURRENT. Insanity. So unnecessary. So unprofessional. Also they apparently do not pay their local staffs enough salary from their extortionate prices as at the end they tried to get everyone to “tip” their OWN crew, as if tipping was something that you actively bargain for. – via

Dnes som absolvoval vylet s potapanim s touto spolocnostou. Vylet trval cely den od rana. Orgnanizacia bola na vybornu. Uz objednavanie islo ako po masle. Rano ma vyzdvyhli pri hoteli, doviezli k lodi, nachystali vystroj, zoznamili s instruktotom, pripravili ranajky. Ponory boli bez komplikacii a na overene miesta kde mozte vydiet podmorsku faunu a floru vsetkeho druhu. Je mozne si tu spravit aj cely potapacsky kurz. Ludia su tu velmy mily a ochotny. Mpzem len doporucit. V pripade pojdem do tychto casti urcite sluzby tejto fpolocnosti este vyuzijem. Navyse je tu aj cesky hovoriaci manazer co pre cechodlovakou moze byt vyhodou ?? – via

Das Dive Center macht einen ordentlichen Eindruck, ebenso auch das Equipment und das Personal ist nett. Die Preise sind ganz schön gepfeffert und wesentlich teurer als bei anderen Tauchschulen. Für 2 Tauchgänge mit Verpflegung werden 150€ verlangt, für das einfache Schnorcheln schon 50€. Die Nacht vor meinem gebuchten Tauchgang wurde ich krank. Der Fahrer, der uns morgens abholen sollte sprach kein Wort englisch und es war schon mal schwierig ihm das mitzuteilen. Wenig später wollte ich die gebuchten Fun dives nachholen aber ich sollte für die “entstanden Stornierungskosten” eine horrende Summe bezahlen. Die Besitzer kamen mir mit dem Preis noch etwas entgegen aber sorry, die verlangte Summe steht in keinem Verhältnis! Also bei Buchung lieber nur eine Anzahlung tätigen oder tatsächlich erst am nächsten Tag zahlen. Somit ist man auf der sicheren Seite. – via

My wife and I spent three days diving here and for the most part had a great time. There’s definitely room for improvement in some areas however. We had David as our dive master for the first two days and he was great. When you combine him and Magnus it made for some perfect dives. There was another couple on board with us that wasn’t so fortunate. The girl was getting her PADI cert from Chris. I saw him get overly upset at her a few times and even say “You did it before! I don’t understand why you can’t just do it again!” As an instructor I think it’s imperative that your students are comfortable with you especially in the water. I don’t think yelling and being high strung are good qualities for this kind of teaching.

I also found paying to be more trouble than it should have been. On the last day we found out we could have used a card but before that we were told it was a 5% fee to use it. Apparently that’s not the case if you run the card as USD. Scubafish is also more expensive than most of the places on the island but I believe the value is there. It looks like most dive shops go to the same area and dives. Scubafish uses a large and small boat and we found the trip to be much more comfortable on the larger boat. The lunch served on board is great and something we looked forward to everyday.

When you’re on the smaller boat I found some things with our gear overlooked as well. My tank was not turned on twice and I had the wrong size wetsuit and mask. The small boat had no other options for wetsuits and masks. The mask was really tight on my nose and made it hard for me to just enjoy the dive. If my wife wasn’t with me I would have probably ended the dive after 20 minutes.

On the final day our Divemaster was Pen and she was great. She’s definitely by-the-book and a great pick if safety and a more guided dive is what you’re looking for.

The guys who take pictures do not share a database so if you’re doing a multi day package you’ll have to buy them daily. The pictures are a fair price but just make sure you budget for them accordingly. 1000thb for five 1500thb for 10 or 2500 for all the pics. We received our pictures from the last day on a Dropbox email which required downloading the app and signing up for Dropbox. – via
