Don’t judge by the stars. It’s purely a great place for divers to lodge in, cause most of the day we’d be out diving around the beautiful sites!
Gotta take note that there’s no fresh water and electric between 6am to 5:30pm, though it doesn’t really bother us since our sole reason is just there to dive lol.
Mobile reception is good if you’re on Maxis, sorry to those using celcom and digi, as it’s quite poor signal.
Did my Advance Open Water with Uncle Chang’s and it was such a great experience, highly recommended as a diver.
During the afternoon and evening, you’d see plenty of sea gipsies selling seafood, don’t forget to haggle with them or they will slaughter you with high prices. – via

My boyfriend and I went to Uncle Chang for 5D4N, where we took a 2 day AOW course, 1 day Mabul/Kapalai diving and 1 day Sipadan diving. We could not have wished for a better stay at Uncle Chang. Communication is fast, our diving instructor Santi was amazing and let us feel right at home and very safe. We fell in love with the little bungalow above the water. We walked around the island of mabul, and we were definitely sure we made the right choice for Uncle Chang. You can see the sunset from the bungalow, and the sunrise from the private deck of Mabul’s Uncle Chang. The dives were very well organized and the diving master’s really put safety first. The price of the dives and the stay were one of the best prices we could find on the island, especially the Sipadan dives were really well priced.
btw, for those wondering: we fell in love with diving in Sipadan. It’s totally worth the money and our advise is: go with Uncle Chang. – via

Took the AOW course and dove 2 days of Sipadan with Uncle Chang’s. The course and dives were ok despite some leaky gear and our instructor/divemaster’s disinterest to engage with us before/after dives (maybe it’s a cultural thing?), but the worst was the wait for everything and the lack of response. Their time estimates were very off, we were told to meet at the boat at 7:45, 8am only to depart at 9, 9:30am. Food was decent. Limited coffee and tea on dives. COMMUNICATION WAS PRACTICALLY NON-EXISTENT. Jamilah and Roihan who manages the operations kept ignoring my messages. We had to send numerous follow-ups for a single response. I’ve honestly never dealt with a worst company in terms of customer service and communications. Booking with them was incredibly stressful as we weren’t sure if our course and dives were confirmed up until the week before our trip. Unfortunately, we were stuck with this company because we paid a large deposit but had to postpone the trip due to COVID and they refused to refund the deposit. Even after the completion of the course, we had to wait almost 2 weeks + many follow-ups with Jamilah for our status to update in PADI.
Word of advice, DO NOT PAY A DEPOSIT or better yet save yourself the headache and stress and just book with other dive shops in Semporna like Borneo Speedy Dive or Scuba Junkie. There’s a reason why Uncle Chang is rated terribly compared to everyone else. – via
