Buyer beware. Brian rented my 7yo a skim board. 5 mins later the Delray lifeguard came down to my kids and said there’s no skim boarding on Delray beaches; town ordinance because kids broke their necks doing it in the past. Lifeguard said the rule has been on the books for the past 9 years they’ve worked there.

When I asked Brian about i the rule he said he had no idea of the rule. (Seems unlikely if the lifeguard is right about 9 yrs) He offered other equipment, but we already had boogie boards and the surf on the beach wasn’t big enough to push a board anyway. He had no other gear we were interested in. I told him I’d like a refund.

First he tried to tell me that he didn’t know how to give a refund and I called him on it. Then he agreed the it’s not policy to give refunds. It seems pretty irresponsible to rent gear to kids that they can’t use.

In addition, shop was shady, hobie cats were poorly maintained (rips in the tarp and a broken rudder) and nothing was rigged even though winds were 10-15kt.

Would not recommend, guy seems sketchy. – via
