Came out on a Monday and it was just okay. Staff seemed to be confused as to whether I could use my own boots or not when I bought my lift ticket and rental, which was frustrating as trying my boots before a large trip was the reason for going and I confirmed on the phone the week prior. When they set up my bindings they never fully clicked my boot in to check forward pressure, which I suspect caused an early release on my first descents. My rental skis clearly had not been waxed recently, if ever, and I spent most of the day scraping ice stuck to the bases and stopping like I hit the brakes as soon as the snow was anything but well groomed. They were blowing snow the entire time which meant poor visibility and endless goggle wiping – towards the end of the day it was difficult to tell where turkey trot went into the trees through the blowers causing a traffic jam.

Be sure to check for closures as I shot up to the top for my first run to find the only way down was upper omigosh, which would have been fine if my bindings didn’t release on me a couple times on the way down.

On the up side it was close to ATL, the lift operators were friendly, the food was pretty good, the beer was good and regardless of conditions I got to ski for a day. I’m sure I will be back, but if I have say in it, I’ll drive the extra distance to sugar mtn – via google

I want to love this place, it’s right around the corner from our house and by all means should be the place to enjoy some skiing, but it’s not. The trails are poorly marked but it’s the constant production of snow to keep up with the melt that sucks. The névé being blown slices into your face unlike any other slope I’ve been to, I’ve never found the need to use actual goggles (~$85 when purchased at the resort) until skiing here. Normally sunglasses would be sufficient, even with goggles visibility is sub par. However, it was the lack of help from ski patrol I really found to be upsetting. I lost a ski within 25’ of where I got of the lift due to a faulty binding, while walking up slope in unwieldy ski boots I found a person a part of ski patrol but they wouldn’t help. I had the one ski, I just couldn’t locate the other. It felt dangerous to wander around, slow and not very nimble in my boots to locate the ski with other fast moving skiers/ snowboarders as a solo skier so naturally I asked for help. It would have been an easy fix if the actual patrol helped me. Instead I hobbled up mountain to the lift and found an attendant that didn’t exactly know what was best procedure. After sitting there for about 10 minutes I was told to ride the lift back down and got linked up with Dale. He was a huge help! Luckily when I rode the lift back down I was able to spot the faulty ski and could relay that information to him and he walked down and located both of them to return to me. I could overlook icy, slushy runs but I can’t overlook the fact that people put in place to help don’t actually help when needed. It should have been an easy situation to remedy if the ski patrol I walked past gave me 2 seconds of their time. All and all, I left upset. I’ve never left a ski slope upset before, it should be an awesome time. – via google
