If you want to pay $700 bucks for 15 minutes spearfishing in the water, this is the trip for you! On EQUIPMENT Our guide got our fin sizes wrong so one person had over-sized fins. The 2nd pair were two different sizes. And the last pair was of such poor quality, they bent in the water for every stroke. When asked about having a wet-suit or wave guards, we were told it's more natural without. Little to our surprise, when our guide went in, he had all the equipment us beginners didn't need, including a wetsuit, a dive belt, and nice snorkel gear. on SAFETY Before our trip, our guide told us safety is paramount and he'd be checking on us constantly. The moment he went in the water, he was out of sight in 30s. I spent more time hunting for my guide than fish. on FISHING The first spot we went to unfortunately had 0 fish (no fault of the guide). We were then told we'd go to another spot near Isle Mujeres. 40minutes later, we asked when we would get to the second spot and were told we were heading back to the harbour already, but we COULD stop by another spot, which we found out afterwards was technially off-limits. After a quickie 15minute float, we were on the way home! It was probably a red-flag from the start when the guide had a lunch-box cooler to store any 'fish', and he told us he forgot the ice... 2-STARS All in all, at least his guns worked (which he only brought out one for us near the end - so we missed a couple of chances - which, honestly, was all we had). Additional RED FLAGS Nothing major, but just the constant lies about little things that added up in the end -we weren't supposed to snorkel after a day of SCUBA -our trip time was supposed to be 5 hours, but he kept insisting he gave us 'bonus time' when we expressed how little 'hunting' time we actually got -equipment problems, how many 'spots' we tried, and poor safety. It was just a bitter experience for the price. If you could get this for $200, I'd say it's worth it. Otherwise, pay the extra money and go somewhere else. - via google
