I went diving with Joe Ruiz on the Spectre Dive Boat at Anacapa Island. Joe was very knowledgeable of the dive sites, and an overall awesome guy! He made sure the group was informed of the plan well in advance of even getting suited up for the dive, and even gave divers a chance to win a few little prizes via a raffle. My one complaint is that the group was comprised of multiple sub-groups of people. I was constantly being kicked in the face and in the head by two divers in particular, and at times it felt as though everyone was diving right on top of each other. I would recommend that part of the pre-dive briefing cover underwater courtesy to ensure all divers are on the same page before they get into the water. It's one thing to have a friend kick you accidentally, it's another to have someone you've never met continue to do so without any remorse or mental wherewithal to realize they aren't the only ones in the water. That's not to say I didn't have an absolute blast with Joe (CJ), I just wanted to raise awareness to this issue. Overall, I recommend diving with Joe from SC Diving, he's a cool guy and he knows his stuff. He'll even feature you in one of his awesome diving videos! - via
