I don't understand the positive reviews. The main instructor hardly spoke English and was consistently pushy and gruff with my daughter who had just turned 11. I had explained that I needed a refresher and that my daughter had not ever even snorkeled but that she loved the water before we signed up. I guess they weren't informed, but it didn't really mater. The main person didn't understand anything we said to him and said insulting things repeatedly. My daughter never went more than a meter deep and never stopped holding his hands and was terrified the entire time despite loving the water and swimming with a mask in waves and deep open water alone happily. She got really scared and swam to the surface (never more than a meter deep) and the instructor's response was, "What are you doing?... Why did you do that?" Those kinds of questions from the start to the end. I almost ended the course in the middle because I was so annoyed with how he was talking to her and how it was affecting her. She was so eager to do this and if the teacher had had a different approach or could speak English, I'm confident she would have been able to dive deep and without holding the instructors hand. Instead she learned nothing and left far more nervous about the prospect of scuba diving than she was with the healthy fear she had when she started (and this a kid who had felt this would be the highlight of the trip). There are too many examples to give, but I'll give one more. The instructor in his bad English asked me, right in front of my daughter after meanly reprimanding her for coming up in a panic out of the water, "Did she want to do this or did you push her to do this?" I answered, "She did." He didn't understand and asked again. I said, "She wanted to do it, but the problem is you. Your English is not good enough to explain or understand and you're speaking to her as though you don't understand she's 11 years old." He didn't understand again and asked again, and I just repeated, "She did, but the problem is you." And he turned to her and asked her, and she said, "I wanted to do it." And he shook his head and continued with the pushy gruffness. They didn't even say goodbye to her or anything. Definitely should not have given her the Scuba diver certificate as she never went more than a meter deep. We didn't do ANY book learning or even get access to the course that is supposed to be completed for certification until after the course. Ridiculous. I just don't comprehend the positive reviews. - via
