Amazing location, the lake is just breathtaking with the mountains and ice caps around it.
You can go down to the lake and even see some condors flying around if you're lucky.
Keep in mind that being at almost 3000 meters above sea level, the air is thin and can make you tired way faster than expected on the way up. So take your time and bring a bottle of water just in case.
If you're staying at the hotel, try to get a room with a view to the lake, it is absolutely amazing.
Being located at the top of the Andes Mountains it can be a bit tricky to get there, requiring you to drive up the mountains on a small winding road with a lot of semi trucks going up and down. Just got to be careful and watch out for snow during the winter. - via
