Seaweed Farm Tours! Yes, that is a thing. Perhaps you have enjoyed one of the many delicious seaweed shakes while in the village. Perhaps your skin glows or your hair shines because of the magical properties of seaweed. Well, now you can actually see where and how seaweed is tended and harvested in this one of a kind tour led by the legendary Miss Mo and Sunny Side.
My family and I were scheduled to take the tour to Silke Caye and the turtle spot but rough seas made that inadvisable, so Sunny Side offered us the opportunity to go to Ivan’s Caye and then a tour of Miss Mo’s own sea weed farm.
This is a tour that is not to be missed. Ivan’s Caye, is a small quirky little caye, that is the epitome of chill Belizean hospitality, perfectly funky atmosphere with amazing snorkeling. Seriously, why this place is not more popular is beyond my comprehension.
After much snorkeling, hanging out and a bbq lunch we gathered round to listen to Miss Mo talk to us about sea weed farming and its imperative presence to the ecosystem and the economy. We hopped into the boat and headed out for a swim and snorkel around the farm. Wow. Just wow.
