Very unpleasant experience with Wanda, the owner at Intracoastal Jet Ski & Boat Rentals. I NEVER write negative Google reviews...never. This experience warrants it. I was overcharged approx $350 extra than what was agreed upon. Wanda is very friendly when signing up for a rental, but was extremely rude, arrogant, smug and condescending when we were checking out. We ended up running up on a sandbar destroying the propeller 15 minutes into our time. She immediately said, "well, I *assumed you knew how to drive a boat" or "that you knew how to throw an anchor." The deckhand had a very thick accent that made it difficult to understand his instructions. She made it seem like I'm an irresponsible person who purposely was reckless. I did not appreciate her tone. I signed a contract that states that I have received operational and safety instructions - we DID NOT. I admit to not reading all fine print. While I was signing the paperwork, that Wanda was rushing me through, i.e. not encouraging me to read every detail, she was in the middle of giving two young men a boating test before they rented *jet skis (which she was proctoring and giving the answers to). In my defense, I was saying how we were never given safety instructions to stay within the red and green markers, what the reason is, and what the consequences and subsequent damage charges would be. This is basic information that is critical for a safe and an enjoyable time boating - it should have been very clearly stated and emphasized - it absolutely was NOT. My friend also agrees that it was not mentioned, nor is it such common knowledge to non-boaters. Consistent with other negative reviews, there is a pattern with this owner - that she is not empathetic at all and unnecessarily nasty and unpleasant. This was all right before Christmas, which gave us a very bad taste. There is a place right next door that I should have used, I'm sure they would have set better expectations. Bad mouthing a competitor 50 feet away is very bad form (which I have seen on other responses). I made a dispute with my credit card company for $300. I was overcharged approx $350 - I want you to do the right thing and refund my credit card $300 and give the deckhand a $50 tip. When I was checking out I was so upset with your unprofessional treatment and behavior that I wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. When I didn't give a tip you scoffed under your breath. Let's not even get into the subject of how your assistant only works on tips and how you don't pay him fairly. Btw, he was very nice, but did initially bring out the incorrect propeller which cut an extra 30 minutes plus of our time. Also, I saw you berating him afterwards as we were driving away. The lack of instructions cut more than half of the time we paid for. I am fine paying for the full time, that is why I'm only asking for $300 out of $623.81 that you charged me. DO THE RIGHT THING AND I WILL REMOVE THIS REVIEW. - via
