Be careful with Ski Rentals.
I had season rentals for my son and the deposit was kept without being able to come to a solution. I will never go to this place for any kind of business again.
As a background, my wife and son rented the ski at the beginning of the season. He is a level 3 skier and the skis were recommended for him. During the year, one of the skis chipped under the binding. No scratch marks from a stone or so under the ski that could explain the chipping. No bending of the ski etc. I am myself skiing for 50 years now (scary, right.....). I have broken skis and things happen. Kids can go places where things happen. I have no issue to own this.
My issue with the store is how we got there and that there is no interest to find a resolution. Once we discussed the chipping, one of the staff members said "if your son is a good skier, this can happen with a beginner / intermediate ski". Why was the ski then recommended to rent by the owner that later one of his staff members found unsuitable? Then I was told "your son can safely ski the rest of the season" when bringing in the ski for a service. When returning a staff member said looks like a "20 - 30 USD" damage. Guess it was safe for my son to ski but then you can't rent? You don't take responsibility to recommend a ski that is not a fit for a level 3 skier? You don't find some compromise?
The deposit is kept in full making me pay more than buying new skis....
There is no point in pursuing this longer with the store. They keep the deposit. Just other clients should be aware how the shop handles situations like this. Never again. - via
