I booked this place through Dive Guide Philippines to get my Open Water certification. I traveled with two friends from Europe.
On our late evening arrival we were warmly greeted by the receptionist and our dive instructor Max was already waiting to introduce himself and give us a short briefing on the outline of our first course day.
We were very surprised to find exceptionally well maintained and modern rooms. I was staying in the room called Triggerfish on the top floor. Highlights were the silent AC, the balcony with an almost ocean view, the sleek and clean bathroom and the good water pressure of the shower.
The resort has two areas where you can order food and drinks, or eat breakfast: The reception/dive shop area on the ground floor and the rooftop balcony with a bar. During dry weather we enjoyed it a lot to eat our breakfast on the rooftop while watching the ocean. The breakfast itself was exceptional, with enough choices between different Filipino Silogs and continental breakfasts. Else, the beer is quite cheap compared to the rest of the island. On the ground floor, there is always a roster of funny dive characters, who are happy to talk to you or help with restaurant recommendations.
Located at the more quiet end of station 3, we were surprised to notice the beach area south of Divegurus to be the most clean and peaceful during our stay. Almost no trash, crystal clear waters, barely any hawkers, no annoying photo ops. Also during nighttime, it was possible to get good sleep before 11PM, since the resort is not in between many bustling clubs.
The highlight of our stay was of course the incredible dive course with Max. Always professional and never skimping on safety, he patiently made sure that everyone understood the lessons 100% and rigorously practiced with us during the confined water dives. In the end, all of us passed the exams and dives without any problems. After the course, I also did a very well organised fun dive. I only needed to relax and enjoy the diving experience without any hassle. Properly fitting gear and a dive computer was provided on every dive I went on.
Overall, I especially recommend this place for people who want to go or learn diving and who only occasionally want to take part in the classic Boracay party crowds. Else, you might find places closer to the action, but of course, they won’t be this peaceful. - via
