My wife and I recently finished our Open Water Diver Certification with Pacific Ocean Water Sports (POWS) and had a blast. I heard about POWS from a friend and talked to the owner, Mauri, in December as I was considering getting scuba certification for my wife as a Christmas present. He talked with me for over an hour and described the whole process. Mauri and his team emphasized safety throughout the course - during the online theory classes, the pool sessions, and ocean dives.
As an added bonus, Mauri suggested we do our ocean certification dives in Catalina. Mauri, Tara (instructor in training), and Iman (divemaster) from POWS introduced us to the wonderful world of scuba diving. We saw Garibaldi, schools of bass, kelp forests, star fish, sheephead, and even a boat wreck.
