If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I did my Open Water certification with the crew at Shellharbour Scuba in January and I felt completely comfortable with the instructors in the water. I was trained by Stuart and Joel and both were amazing. They really want you to have the best experience and learn as much as you can in the 3 day course. Even down to the little requests, such as me not being the first to do a certain skill in the water because I was a bit nervous and knew I was going to have a little trouble. Of course this was no problem for them and they're super encouraging when you overcome the hurdles.
The good thing about Shellharbour Scuba is that they have dive instructors with various different interests and specialties when it comes to diving, so there is plenty of potential for further training with them when you are ready for that.
Their gear is top notch and Mick, the owner, can get you a very good deal when you purchase all your own gear, and you can even do an afterpay sort of thing with them so you can own the equipment now and pay it off later.
The dive sites for the weekend social dives and Open Water training dives, The Gutter and Bushranger's Bay, are both spectacular sites with a never-ending list of species, my favourites being the Grey Nurse Sharks (which you will see plenty of in Bushranger's Bay) and plenty of different stingrays. Every dive I do at The Gutter reveals a new marine animal I hadn't seen before.
You can't go wrong if you decide to train and dive with these guys. 11/10. - via
