I was really excited for my first surfing lesson, but unfortunately, I did not have a good experience.
My surfing instructor was very friendly and he was great at giving the instructions on land. When we went out into the water, he swam 50 feet in front of me and didn't help me navigate through the water. I was pulled under several times and he really didn't seem to care that I was struggling in the water. It didn't feel like I was getting a lesson, he kind of just left me to fend for myself and I did not feel safe in the water.
I was also under the impression that this was a private lesson, but he had someone else join us about half an hour into my lesson, so I didn't feel the focus was on me.
I told him I wasn't sure I wanted to go back out into the water because I didn't feel safe and he said "okay" and walked away and that was the end of my lesson.
Overall, not a great experience. Be wary when you book your lessons here. - via
