5.0.0

My wife and I recently took two tours with Captain Jaks - one to Xunantunich with the Blue Hole, and another to Silk Caye for snorkeling at Moho Caye. Both guides, Christian and Julian, were incredibly knowledgeable and made our experience truly special. Christian was our guide at Xunantunich, and he went above and beyond to help my wife feel comfortable and calm when she was feeling nervous at the top of the pyramid. What to Expect: From Captain Jak's to the ruins, you're going to have a good 2:30 hour drive up, so make sure you plan this into your schedule. Once there, the guide will give you a historic tour of the site and explain how things worked back in the day. After the tour, you'll go out to eat at a local restaurant (amazing food) and then (we picked Inland Fresh Water Blue Hole) we headed to the blue hole - a small freshwater cenote. Then you ride back to Placencia (2 hours). Julian, who was our guide for snorkeling, also offered to stay back with my wife since she was a bit nervous about the water. What to expect: We left Captain Jak's around 8:00 AM and rode out via boat to the Silk Caye. The ride took about 1 hour to get there. Make sure you bring a towel to sit on so you can soften the bumps from the small waves. Once there, we were greeted by the park rangers who are protecting the Caye. They gave us the rules of the visit, and told us what to do / etc. Then we snorkeled for about 30 minutes before going to another location about 5 minutes from the Silk Caye (Still part of it) to snorkel in an area that has sea turtles. We left the Silk Caye to ride over to Moho Caye, another island where we had Lunch, relaxed for 30 minutes, and then snorkeled around the island. This island had a ton of Hermit Crabs and Coconuts. You can pay $1 to have a coconut cracked open so you can drink it. OR you can take a stab at it yourself (no pun intended) if you can crack one open with rocks. Then we rode back to Placencia. Overall, we had an amazing time and highly recommend Captain Jaks' tours to anyone visiting the area. - via google
