Deceptive and Crooked Business Practice. I was signed up to go on a trip with this shop. A few days before the trip, the boat had a problem and cancelled the trip. Although the shop gets a full refund for the trip, Steve Bennet refused to ge me a full refund. When I spoke with him on the phone, he said it was the shop's normal procedure to take the money for the deposit and apply it to next year's trip. When I told him I may not go on next year's trip, he said I would lose my deposit. I pointed out that if he fills my spot next year, another person would pay the full fee. When asked about the $200, he told me the shop would keep my deposit in that case. Basically the shop would make a $200 profit off of everyone who signed up for this year's trip but didn't go on next year's trip. They are using my money to hold the boat for next year without my consent AND keeping the money if I don't go NEXT year. ls that underhanded and crooked or what? I have already contacted the Arizona Attorney General's fraud complaint division. - via
