All the instructors who have previously worked at this dive center have left. Jim Sedore teaches third rate scuba. When Jim sedore taught me to be a scuba instructor, he did not teach scuba instruction per the book. He taught instructors to teach others that regulator clear, regulator recovery and mask clearing and removal was all that was required for open water scuba certification. Even then, mask removal was optional in his book. Do your PADI Professional training and certification elsewhere. He will cut every corner he possibly can. He is not capable of taking responsibility for his actions as a false instructor and if you are a young individual who puts your trust in Jim, he will make sure you do not understand the paperwork you are signing and use it to take advantage of you. He openly tries to manipulate his fellow divers. I'm speaking from my experience as a boy scout and an instructor trained by Jim, as well as a dive buddy of his for 15 years. The awards of his on the walls of Carolina Dive, for many years, were achieved by certifying students who he did not do any teaching or dives with. He would take credit from any instructor he could mooch off of in order to ensure he got an award each year. He would regularly send open water scuba instructors on certification dives that they were not certified to do for deep, wreck, or other specialty certs and then take all the certifications for himself. HE WOULD SEND COMPLETELY UNINSURED AND UNQUALIFIED INSTRUCTORS IN THE WATER. All so he could have an award on the wall. He would regularly tell instructors that they had completed specialty instructor certifications for deep and rec and other specialty certs. He would then not turn in the final paperwork to the dive agency and then certify all students taught by that individual under his name claiming that the other instructor certification card was simply delayed in the mail. This is how he milled students for awards off of many instructors for many years. The instructors would eventually get their certs but not before Jim had sent them on multiple certification dives that he took credit for. This was the first time I realized what everyone else at the dive center had been saying for years already, that Jim cannot be trusted. That Jim Sedore, is a liar and a thief. It's really sad how far this dive center has fallen. He does not actually care about the dive industry. He's a retired formerly very high paid individual from Cigna healthcare who has the Dive center as his hobby and by all means that's his right. But don't get fooled by his Captain Jim persona. He's just a weasel. Zack, I know you're a good guy at the Dive center. You're incredibly talented as a scuba instructor, and a good worker. Don't get sucked in by Jim. Don't be manipulated by him. You are better than that. If you're trying to wait him out until he dies, he is not worth it. The saddest part is the only thing asked is that Carolina Dive Center respect the bare minimum standard of scuba diving, but that is too much for them to handle. These are things that must be addressed before somebody dies for a washed up boat captains ego. The problems present in Carolina Dive Center are going to get people killed because they are not willing to make the scuba world a safer and better place. - via google
