In 2016 I decided to start my diving training at the Zwenkauer See diving center because it initially gave a promising and professional impression. I was so impressed by the positive experiences that I decided to accept the Master Scuba Diver Academy offer.
The Master Scuba Diver Academy offers a comprehensive package with the opportunity to complete 5 specialist courses, where you can choose 3 courses of your own choosing. Additionally, the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, the PADI Rescue Diver course and the Emergency First Response course are included. The total value of the package is €2500 and financing is provided through monthly payments of €70 over a period of 24 months. The diving school promises unrestricted access to all ACADEMY content after paying the registration fee and the first monthly installment, as well as the opportunity to complete all courses regardless of previous payments. However, the decision about the next step or course rests with the responsible diving instructor, as stated in the contract.
Although my initial experiences were promising, over time and through interactions with other divers, I noticed that the Zwenkauer See diving center did not meet the usual safety and quality standards that I would have expected from a professional diving school. Because of these concerns, it was with a heavy heart that I decided to change diving centers in order to receive higher quality training. I tried to get out of my contract early because it didn't make sense for me to pay for courses that I would ultimately have to repeat at another diving school. Unfortunately, my request to cancel was rejected because there were no provisions for early termination in the contract. I was informed that the contract was still valid and that I was obliged to pay monthly.
Since I didn't want to waste my financial investment in vain, I finally decided to take a course within the "MSDA". I was confronted with an extremely disappointing reaction from the diving school. I was informed that certain conditions must be met before a course can be scheduled. This includes continuing to pay the monthly fee until the cost of the course is fully covered.
Although I had already paid €1349, I was informed that an additional amount of €476 would have to be paid for the course. I felt this was excessive at the time. It was also explained to me that this corresponds to approximately 6.8 (i.e. 7) additional monthly installments that would still have to be paid before the course can take place. The reason for this was that my intention to terminate had resulted in considerable costs and that the mutual trust had been permanently disrupted. It's important to note that there can be no question of significant costs if I only sent a three-line cancellation attempt via email and all payments were always made on time.
Due to my personal experiences and the unfulfilled contractual agreements, I strongly advise against this diving school. This is not just about poor performance, but money is clearly lost and trust in compliance with contractual agreements is disappointed. In my opinion, an unprofessional approach to customers and their financial investments is practiced here. I don't even want to mention any other negative experiences at this point. -via
