I bought a two hour private kitesurfing class some days ago but I was very disappointed, contrary to my stay in Sal in general.
I was transported to the kite beach where I met my instructor. Unfortunately, he wasn’t very talkative nor engaged in the teaching. When I didn’t pick up the handling of the kite immediately he got very frustrated with me and asked why I didn’t do as he instructed. I tried my best to follow his instructions but he grew more and more impatient with me every time the kite fell down and he had to go over and put it in the air which clearly irritated him. At some point I got the hang of it and managed to control the kite for some time until it fell down again. Then he got very upset and kept asking if I did it on purpose. From this time on, he didn’t answer my questions about the handling and commanded me in a condescending voice the things I should do. Fortunately, the class was soon over, and I could be transported home. In the office in Santa Maria, I commented on the class to an employee, probably the manager. He said that maybe the chemistry was not right, but I was welcome to book a class with one of the other instructors, though still at the full price. I said no thanks. - via
