My wife and I visited Vomo Island Resort in March 2022. We have previously been to Fiji -- we love the people, the ocean, and the culture. After weeks of research, we decided on VOMO.
The resort offered excellent vegetarian options and the food exceeded our expectations). The quality of the food and the restaurant staff were amazing. The Indian/Asian evening was particularly noteworthy plus we had avocado toast and fresh juices each morning, yum!!
We are scuba divers, and we utilized the Water Sports/Dive Shop every day.
We did a total of 21 dives in 14 days. Each dive was gorgeous. The Dive Masters and Dive facilities were top notch.
We saw small sharks on every dive. White tip, black tip and one time – we saw either a grey reef shark or small bull shark. We were lucky to have a beautiful encounter with a 15-foot Manta Ray. Wow!!! We also came across a spectacular, massive moon Jellyfish bloom at Sandbar (a dive spot about 30 minutes from the resort). It was beautiful, impressive and a once in a lifetime underwater moment. The Captain and Dive Master had not seen anything like it! The moon jelly differs from many jellyfish in that they lack long, potent stinging tentacles. Instead, they have hundreds of short, fine tentacles that line the bell margin. The moon jelly's sting is mild, and most people have only a slight reaction to it if anything at all. Needless to say -- the diving was awesome!! Most of the time, it was just the two of us, the Dive Master and the boat Captain. We could pick where we wanted to go, the dives were never rushed and bottom time was often at least an hour.
The entire staff and the general manager Justin really care about each guest, which made us feel a heart connection to Fiji and VOMO. There were many occasions when the staff went above and beyond!
You will have tears in your eyes when they sing there farewell song as you leave the resort.
Last but not least, there was music almost every night and it was beautiful.
