A very interesting island just off the coast of mainland Honduras. Ecologically beautiful, but economically depressed. This was my third time there with a first time visitor. On previous trips I did the beaches and snorkeling. Great relaxing and magnificent reefs. Did the grand bus tour this time. Took off one star because of delays due to traffic. Otherwise the tour was expansive and educational. Although Honduras is a Spanish speaking nation, Roatan has stuck with it's British roots and is primarily English speaking. It is just exotic enough to bring wonder, yet still quite knowable. - via
