Aqua Windies - 5 Big Stars
As an executive summary I can tell you that I have no hesitation recommending Aqua Windies with full stars. More detail below.
I spent a week diving with Aqua Windies (February 5-9, 2024) with two other experienced divers. It was our first time travelling to Aruba for our annual(ish) dive trip. We looked at reviews for local dive shops and narrowed our options down to a couple we felt good about.
What stood out for us with Aqua Windies was not only the reviews from other divers on Trip Advisor and scuba board on-line forums, but our own impression on just how incredibly quick Aqua Windies (Nichole) responded to our email inquiries. Her responses were detailed and meaningfully answered our questions. Nichole even suggested a diving itinerary for us that allowed us to hit a little of everything on our Aruba dive bucket list without having us have to repeat any dive sites for the week. For my two fellow divers, it was their first time diving in just over a year. They were prepared to do a refresher at home in Canada before travelling to Aruba but Aqua Windies even built that into our itinerary. The refresher was a shallow shore dive so that we never missed a beat. Two of the three of us brought our own equipment. The third was very happy with AW’s quality and wide selection of rental equipment. The shop is very well stocked (we needed emergency batteries for my friend’s underwater camera because he forgot to pack them and the strap of my mask broke that week and I had it replaced in about a minute). One of our divers even decided to finally take his Advanced Open Water with Aqua Windies. (Me and my other diving buddy already had our AOW certification). Rob was his instructor and our dive guide for much of our trip. He’s very calm and very easy to dive with.
The dive boat was well stocked and the divers were split into groups depending on ability. We are all good with our air consumption so it was nice to have a group who could have 50-60 minute dives while others could come up earlier with their guides.
In summary, we were so pleased with the service, attentiveness, and overall fun we had with everyone from Aqua Windies. They will be the gold standard for us when comparing them to other dive shops. In the shop we were greeted by Nichole and Yvonne. On our dive boat we had Rob (as noted above); Roshendra; and Albert. Everyone from Aqua Windies quickly became an extended part of our diving trip family. We will miss them but we know we will be back for another week to dive with them again on a future trip! - via
