5.0.0

This is a favorite spot for many, so be prepared for sellout crowds. Get your tickets beforehand, and then get there early, before 7:30 AM, for good parking, or else be prepared for a bus ride and a line to get on that bus. The lift lines have been moderate to long in the afternoon, usually with a tolerable wait, even at times a short wait in the early morning. They do a great job grooming the trails every day. The staff are everywhere. They are very friendly, making eye contact and smiling, asking you how your day is going, thoughtfully answering questions, etc. There are little Solo stoves out at the base so you can stop by and warm your hands, or you can enter the main lodge and sit by the fire if there is room or just sit at a table. The lift operators are also very helpful and accommodating of many needs, quick to react when there is a need to slow down or stop, which happens about as much as you'd expect. There is always a catchy song playing somewhere before you get on a chair lift, just in time for that song to stick in your head all the way up :) The Epic Mix app is cool - it counts the trails and lifts you took. I sometimes forget to start it before my first run. The view of the lake is spectacular and the air is fresh and crisp. There is a good combination of challenging trails, glades, intermediate runs, a longer beginner area that sometimes hosts a lot of wobbly newbies screaming "whoa" right behind you as they slide by with limited control, and 3 magic carpets. If you are new, try to work your way up to the Lime trail off the big magic carpet on South Peak. Otherwise, the mild half pipe at top of the big magic carpet is also good for practicing your turns before you earn your way to the lifts. The instructors seem very talented and capable as well. The NEHSA adaptive ski program is unbelievably good, with instructors in that program having many years of experience and being able to accommodate so many different needs. Their goal is to help get everyone their share of time in the outdoors - a noble goal indeed. - via google
