On 2/17/2024, I took the next step in my scuba diving journey and purchased the primary stage, secondary (regulator), octo, and submersible pressure gauge.
Instead of purchasing on-line, I made the decision to purchase from a local brick-and-mortar dive shop - Splash Water Sports Inc.. I wanted to support Splash because the staff have been so helpful during my decision making process of what gear to purchase. Additionally, they have been very welcoming in getting me started in to the local dive community. I always enjoy going there.
I made a self-imposed commitment to not purchase my own gear until I got my Open Water Scuba Diver certification. Having achieved that, I decided it was time to take the plunge and start purchasing my own gear.
Since coming back from Playa del Carmen (in Nov. 2022), I have been diving regularly on the weekends at local pools with a frienddive buddy. We rent our gear from Splash Water Sports, Inc.. Now that I have the regulator, etc., the only things I'll have to rent are tanks and weights.
In terms of regulators, I went with the Aqualung Helix Pro (DIN). Like everything, the sky is the limit on what you can spend for gear like this. However, from everything I've read on-line, including testimonials, the Helix Pro is a great regulator. I will not ever exceed its capabilities.
The staff at Splash Water Sports, Inc. have been great. Spike was very patient and knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions and provided excellent advice throughout the whole process. - via
