If you're in the Eastern Province and looking for your introduction to diving, or to get certified, or to upgrade an existing cert, look no further than Bateel. Trust me on this.
For context, I live in Riyadh and planned to visit Khobar over Eid break. I contacted the center a week before, and they were happy to set me up with a personal plan to ensure that I could get Open Water certified (upgraded from Scuba) over the course of a weekend. I was given access to the PADI online eLearning portion well in advance to help me prepare, with my incredible instructor Muhammed assisting me every step of the way. In addition to the online course, Muhammed Zoom-called to provide me with a refresh of the basics, answer all my questions, and help me prepare for the online exam.
On arrival in Khobar, Muhammed seamlessly guided me through every part of the practical requirements, and was incredibly encouraging and helpful throughout the process. Even when I struggled, he never faltered or failed to hype me up, and when I finally met all the requirements, he was just as happy for me as I was!
I even managed to join the team on a scheduled boat dive in Jubail, where he and other members of the Bateel team took amazing care of our ten-person group. The two dives we took off the Jubail coast were breathtakingly beautiful; we visited a shallow wreck and a coral reef, and the experience was just wonderful. The Bateel team really made my first boat dive an unforgettable one, and my love of diving is only stronger because of it.
All in all, I cannot recommend Bateel enough. Whether you're an experienced diver looking for a group to join up with for planned dives, or a beginner with no experience eager to learn, Bateel is the place for you. - via
