I have always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, but life and other circumstances always managed to get in the way. Recently, I finally found myself in a position to pursue this dream of mine, but I was sure I would have to cast my net outside of Bakersfield to find classes. However, lo and behold, when I started researching, I discovered Bakersfield Scuba Center. They just happen to be a hop, skip, and a small jump away from my neighborhood, so I bopped on over to check it out and see what there was to see. I was a little intimidated and nervous, but I was instantly made to feel welcome and at ease. There was no over-selling or pressure--just a friendly, accepting atmosphere that immediately helped confirm that I was making the right choice (Amanda, you're the best!). When I met Steve and Peggy, the owners, that feeling was instantly validated further. They are the kindest, most patient, funny, sweet, understanding people; I feel as though I did not just take some classes from a local scuba shop but instead made lifelong bonds and friendships that will continue to foster my love for scuba diving the rest of my life. The Dive Master (Steve--I never could have done it without you) and assistant instructors have the patience of Job and without their support and belief that I could do it, I don't think I would have succeeded. Additionally, they take safety extremely seriously--you will be in excellent hands by choosing Bakersfield Scuba Center. I plan to continue working on my certifications with them, and honing my diving skills with Andy, Shane, Julie, and Zach (love all you guys!). The class sizes are small and intimate, and you are able to receive individualized attention. The final trip to Catalina Island is a blast! It's absolutely stunning, and you will have the time of your life. If you're considering learning, I cannot recommend Bakersfield Scuba Center highly enough. Don't wait--go now--you will not regret it!!! - via
