Our seven days at Anantara was superb! A unique destination where memories are made.
From the moment we arrived at the airport in Vilankulos and took off in the Helicopter we knew that we were in for a magical experience.
The resort despite that it is an old establishment, is well maintained and the gardens lush. We stayed in one of the beach villas - they are spacious and tastefully decorated and fit in well with the African / tropical/ island theme.
The food was splendid - fresh, tasteful and wonderful variety - by far the best seafood I have ever tasted.
The Breakfast buffet had everything that you need, and all the staff were really helpful and friendly. The eggs, pancakes and the pastries, selection of juices, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruits, cold cuts - everyday they had something different and special to try.
With the beautiful warm weather we indulged in refreshing cocktails. They were creative and tried almost all of them on the menu. After 3 days the bartender took some initiative and skillfully created our favorite G&T with a touch of mint & cucumber. Definitely a hit!
We loved the themed night buffets for dinner. The chefs were friendly and assisted with our requests without a whim.
The resort has a vast offering of activities - for the adventurous and for the avid bird watcher. Water sports and activities - snorkeling, diving, fishing, island picnics, dhow cruse at sunset - WOW! Some of the activities have an add charge - but really worth to do of them.
The staff in general are relaxed, not the usual five star that you expect. But go out of their way to assist you in a friendly and helpful manner.
Lourenco who is the guide, is knowledgeable, patient and very polite. He dove into the history and local people on the island, most interesting.
For many of the people this is a lifetime trip, but for us is a place that we will revisit and recommend to all to visit.
Not only for the resort experience but the island itself it will blow you away. - via
