My group of 7 women booked this company as part of a "free walking tour". I have used free walking tours in various international cities and always enjoyed them. I can't remember the name of our guide but it was a female with a 4 letter first name. She seemed nice BUT......she took us to one of the squares which was fine. After that she said she would take us to the monkey temple a short 20 minute walk away. 45 minutes later we were still far away from our destination. Having just arrived in Nepal that morning and not slept we were tired so told her to forget the next place and take us back to our hotel. She told us the quickest way home was to go towards the monkey temple and cut back. So we did. She took us up many stairs and we arrived at the monkey temple where she wanted us to pay the entry fee and see the sights. We had clearly told her we had had enough and wanted to return to our hotel. She deliberately mislead us and took us out of the way to the monkey temple anyway. We refused to enter and she eventually got us back to our hotel after stopping 2 people in the streets for directions. She clearly did not know the most direct way to and from the monkey temple. We walked 23,000 steps with her and saw one place.
I have no doubt that this company is fine but this guide knowingly ignored our request to return to our hotel and had no understanding of the walking distance and did not know her way around. I would definitely NOT recommend her as a guide. - via
