Signed up my daughter for a surf lesson with Locals Surf School. The lesson was fantastic. My daughter had a great time. Her surf instructor Danny was so sweet and reassuring. Everyone I have interacted with at the school have been great. They are very professional and skilled, but also fun, supportive, and easygoing. Book a lesson. Support a local business!

Just wanted to add an update to this review. My daughter has been taking lessons all summer long at this point. We've had a lot of interaction with Locals Surf School and their instructors. This is the kindest, friendliest, and most stoked stretch of Rockaway Beach. My daughter has been having a blast. The instructors are talented and supportive. I am a huge fan of Locals and how they operate their business. My daughter will keep taking lessons here into the fall!

New update: My daughter has been surfing with Locals through summer and now through fall. We're heading into winter! Did I mention my daughter is autistic? The instructors have continued to be wonderful and I am so thankful for how kind and welcoming they have been. Every time she goes out into the water it makes her day and I can relax knowing that she's always with a capable and skilled instructor who will keep her safe. - via
