I don't think there's a better way to explain EcoMarine than friends turned family. We found the dive shop on Google when looking for a place that offered smaller, more personal classes and they came with exceptional reviews. Our Open Water course (3 students) was punctuated by a tropical storm, a cold and a classmate with different learning needs and each situation was handled with professionalism and kindness. There wasn’t any time where we felt like our instructor, Ricardo, was pressuring us to rush ahead with classes or not putting our wellbeing as his first priority. It was a no brainer for us to move forward into the Advanced course (class was just the 2 of us) and we weren't surprised that our next instructor, David was another complete professional. He communicated with Ricardo to make sure we were ready and it was pretty amazing to see how much we had improved since we first arrived, especially with our neutral buoyancy and general confidence in the water. This is not a dive shop that simply churns out certification after certification. You can tell that every single team member loves what they do and they want you to fall in love with scuba as well! Every single dive of ours, instructed or fun, over our three week stay was fantastic! They also care deeply about the environment and work hard to teach practices that will help our ocean and earth last. The seahorses (and all of the other amazing wildlife) living under the dock are an added bonus!
If you land on Utila and haven't chosen your shop, find EcoMarine on the dock and have them take you for a visit. (They won't be the ones in your face, pressuring a sale.)
We can't wait to come back to visit and explore the Utila underwater world even more!
Ricardo, David, Chris, Julie, Aldo, Danny, Gustavo, Leanne and Ray - thank you!! We love you EcoMarine! - via
